Now not getting the white ra's due to nothing really.

So think I will use the money to get the AUG box that I have got from funk-star refurbed. I dont really know if there is different forms of gearbox refurb but I have been quoted £250 to overhaul mine ?? Does this sound right or too dear or too cheap ???

Booked in for the stainless exhaust on the 1st October as well.

Cleaned up my AUG box from funk, with gunk, tardis and brake cleaner and it came up quite well. I have spoke to the guys that are going to refurb it and will get it to them when the cash is there for it.
Thinking about getting a steel gear linkage kit with ball joints from eBay to fit instead of the kit I got of eBay, don't know if it will be any better?
Got my euro spec sporting steering wheel from german eBay yesterday and apart from some scratches in the leather and a couple of stitches loose, for £70 include postage a bargain I think. Will fit it tomorrow.
My servo and linkage came from funk yesterday too so going to clean it up and paint it before getting the garage to fit it when I get it annually serviced next month.

Lastly it gets the longlife stainless exhaust fitted next Saturday.

One more thing I want done is a local vw specialist does Bosch injection services so might get that done over the winter.

Still need camber and tracking done as well over the winter after the suspension and wishbone change.

One wee problem is the new drivers side front suspension is making a horrible squeaking rubber sound at low speeds so need to work it out ???

Thanks the garage that are doing it will open it up and report back before any work is started. They have been recommended to me by lots of classic car owners that I met recently so hopefully I won't get conned  :dontknow:

Nice car mate, I bought a black sportline a few months ago from Edinburgh, just about bought a red one from London, but the black one came up a day before I was going to fly down. Mine is a 1991 H plate, 112,000 miles. Dont know if youve seen it about as im in West Lothian. Its going off the road soon for the winter. Look forward to maybe meeting you for a chat since your local and show you my car.

Nice attention to detail - your Sportline is looking good Chris. What about the new wheels that you were going to fit ?

The wheels fell through, nice lad selling them just a couple of wee things went wrong so we agreed to no deal. Shame though as I thought they would have been nice for a change.

Just met a local lad tonight with a black sportline which is good news as there is not a lot of mk1 owners around here, so we can share info and knowledge  :D

Just too many things I want to do and can never workout what to do first ? Paintwork, gearbox, stereo, alarm, roof…………….but stainless exhaust this Saturday once I double check with them tomorrow.

Hope your car is coming along well

Well there's another one not far from you…    I'm just down the road in Dunbar. Think I saw your Mk1 not to long back now coming down the A1 at the Spott roundabout. Looked very shiney!

Liking your build, looks spot on with some very nice touches.

Where abouts are you getting your gearbox rebuilt by the way? Are they local?

Might have been me as my mate lives in Dunbar in the new houses beside Asda !!

I have been recommended ASK Transmissions in Falkirk by various people I met at some classic car shows. I have phoned them so just have to drop my box in when I have the pennies and they will open it up and tell me the crack.

Great job on the indicator surrounds. I love that euro steering wheel. It's a nice feel when your driving - I like the hand position. Your gear linkage looks mint now. Top job been done!

Well done

Cheers Hugh.

Well done

The steering wheel is so much better to drive with, it has a few marks and scratches but for around £60 or £70 ( cant remember ), I thought it was a bargain, decent of the German lad to send it  :D
When I do the interior at the end, poss get the wheel, gaiter and handbrake re-leathered but not cheap  :dontknow:

The servo and linkage have come up ok for hand done but will get the original one powdercoated when it comes off and at a later date.

Just met a local sportline owner with a mint black car so I will get him to contact you for your website. He knows a local powdercoater which will be handy and I can hopefully help him back with my great mechanical knowledge  :redfaced:

Do you want one of the other steering wheels ??  If you do pm me and I will send you some pics.
