i thought it must be right esle they wouldn't sell them like that, all the pictures i've seen of the diesel gasket they all look the same.

Good work, re HG, take old one to supplier and match up?

it's the correct gasket but just seems odd the holes dont marry throught with the block

nice one guys

well happy it's up and running

small problem tho

it's a bit to smokey for my liking, the video you can't really see it very well

it's very smokey when i rev up, but it is white smoke that i believe is unburnt deisel

but when i pull the cold start level the smoking gets less, no reading on the interweb this leaver advances the timing a little to help things get running. am i right?

also if it's correct that this makes it smoke less, does this mean my timing is a little out??

cheers diesel nuts :)

you need to use a dti gauge in the back of the diesel pump, set it to 0.95 for optimum running and good cold starts

right all timed up to 0.95 and it's running lovely

still a little smokey but it needs time to run in the new rings and everything

so all i need to do is tax it :)

had a bit more of a play yesterday

advance the timing a little more to stop the smoking  and it worked so i'm at 1.00 now so i shall run it for a bit and tweek it if needed

been reading alot on the vwdieselparts.com forum and they talk about deisel purge so i ran some of that throught to give things a clean and i certainly did that. the stuff left at the bottom was black

also got some new injector nozzles to rebuild them after i've run it for abit, and also ordered a injector pump rebuild kit as the accelrator level seal is leaking so this need sorting

also gave it a quick wash ready for taxing it and the first drive out for 6 month… cant wait :)

not a bad effort for a saturday

Matt, the 1.6 diesel is quite nippy, I happily ran at 75 - 80 mph with mine, dont be afraid to go a bit faster
