Help, what tyres should i go for??

Hi all, my first post here.  Love the site and am loving my Golf Mk1 Sportline but it now needs new tyres.


Rather than take a punt, I thought I would ask the experts.  So, what do people suggest?

Its running 185 55 15's.  Rims are the correct BBS ones and ideally I would like a decent set of tyres but change from £300.

I've stuck Continentals on all four corners of mine, for the low mileage I get through they are a reasonable tyre at a reasonable price, you should be able to pick up four easily for £300 with enough change for a Cornetto.

I've run nankangs for many years. Always been happy with the grip and wear. They also come up narrower than any other manufacturer for the same size meaning less chance of rubbing if lowered.

I think tyres should be... 195 55 15 Continentals.

195's would be nice but I do get some rubbing already so will stick with 185's I think. cheers
