Had no intention of buying another car, but happened to see this advertised - as you do! - and at a price that made me think either something is wrong with it or it could just be a bit of a bargain - and so far it seems it's the latter!
As well as the Azev's fitted to the car, I've got the original BBS that have just been refurbished;
Also with the car came a single lamp front grill and he threw in his stoplock wheel cover. The plan is/was to sell the Azev's and single lamp grille and recoup some money, although to be fair the Azev's have grown on me more.
So about the car, it's an original Sportline, registered 10th June 1991 on an H-plate so an early one. 137k miles and standard except the suspension which is Weitec coilies. It rides really well on these - I'm impressed! Interior is pretty sorted - needs a vacuum though. Only issues are MFA not working (clock does work) and gear knob a little rough where stitching is loose. Seat bolster is good.
Mechanically seems good, tracking needs doing though and wiper mechanism makes a horrible noise, that's first job on the list. Otherwise it's well serviced and P/O spent about £900 on the engine doing water pump, injectors, clutch and all sorts of bits, it really does run sweet. Just needs a general tidy up, rocker cover is rusty and is weeping oil a little from it (so new gasket I reckon) and engine just needs a clean.
Bodywork main issue is one wing top where has had paint in past has white spots on it, looks like it's been lacquered and not quite right so maybe a wet sand/polish job.
The roof is fairly new Mohair and in good condition but sadly no tonneau cover so I'll be on the look out for one of those.
That's about it, I never thought I'd go floppy but I have to say I'm loving this - great to be behind the wheel of a MK1 again Anyway, here's some more pics ;

Thanks Chris, been worried all week someone would snap it up before me! Cheers on the tonneau, funk is sorting one as we speak, but will let you know if needed. This will be coming to the AGM - at least this MK1 doesn't need as much work as the other

I have been in contact with Hugh already this week, got some tips and info off him before I viewed - Cheers Shughy
Well I've sorted what I think is the most serious issue with the car - the wipers. That was a fun job - not!!
I double checked Haynes, and saw how quick and easy it would be to remove the wiper mechanism, didn't even need to detach the motor. Out it came, and the passenger side spindle was seized almost solid. So much so one of the linkage arms had bent near the ball joint;
I took both spindles out - passenger one needed a lot of persuasion - cleaned them up with emery cloth, covered in grease, cleaned everything up and reassembled. I was quite pleased how quick it was to do.
Sadly, when I was putting the wipers back on at the end, I realised that when I had to hammer out the spindle I forgot to put a nut on the thread and had peened the edge over and buggered the thread I tried re-cutting it but it just became a mess. No worries, a frustration, but easily sorted. Took the wiper mechanism off my tintop to 'borrow' another spindle.
Got it stripped, all back together again and on the car. However, when doing up the large nut on the passenger spindle - the one that's on top of the scuttle area, it just kept turning once it was half way on. It's wasn't stripping the thread and had me baffled - until I realised that the outer tube that the spindle goes into was turning as well!!!
I eventually got it off and realised that due to the original spindle being so badly seized, it had snapped the outer tube - I guess the tightening of the nut was enough to finish it off
Back to square one, ended up taking the main carrier plate off my tintop, cleaning that up, fitting the motor off the cabby and two good spindles and now I have wipers that work - and are quiet! That said, I started at about 5.30pm and finished at 10.30pm!! Not helped by lack of space and a full work bench.
Hopefully the fix will last, don't fancy doing that one again lol Tomorrow the plan is just to drive and enjoy it!
