Goly, it's restoration time!!!!

Wow small steps first and then all of a sudden your behind the wheel heading for the AGM.

Can it get any better than that! 😉👍

Hello everyone!
How time flies, it's been a year since I've updated my build thread and I'm pleased to say that Goly is now home.
After extensive bodywork repairs and a full bare shell respray I now need to think about how I'm going to put this giant jigsaw puzzle back together.
I know that I'm going to start by getting the brake lines on and the fuel tank painted and fitted.
I am so happy to have my car back home but it's also very daunting!
Wish me look whilst you have a gander at a couple of pictures I have.
(The paint hasn't been flattened or polished yet so it's not the finished item 😉)

Engine bay done 💪You've just got to love the original Lhasa Green???? 💚

Cheers Mike golf Cabrio but unfortunately she won't be ready this year. I'm going to aim for next year's AGM I think. 🖒and as guest of honour I doubt you will be buying any drinks. There is plenty of water in the taps 😉
MikeBott93 Yeah I'm really happy. The inevitable has already happened though and I managed to chip the front panel. Oops. I knew I would do some damage though, so the bodyshop knows she will be back for a touch up and final polish.
Cheers Hairyarse It's been a year since I've updated the thread but 2 years and 4 months since she went in the bodyshop 😲

Today I have had a handy little tool delivered to me. It's a brake pipe straightener, I couldn't seem to make one strong enough to straighten the new steel pipes so I decided to try the Kwix UK straightener. We all love some photos of the jobs we do 😆

I tried to straighten one pipe with home made tools, planks of wood and finesse. This was the result and I wasn't happy.

20170517_161836.jpg

I knew the tool was only for open ended pipe and the pipes I have are ready made to the correct size. I had to strip the tool and rebuild it once I had inserted the pipe. Not a difficult job.

The tool

Run the tool up and down a few times and Bob's your uncle

20170517_163219.jpg

It doesn't take the kinks out 100% but it's better than anything else I've tried and I guess copper pipe would be perfectly straight.

These are where the 180° bends were and are the worst parts of the now straight pipe

A before and after 💪

Progress is slow and steady but it's started 😆

I've managed to rebuild the rear axle and then realised that I forgot to send the rear axle bush mounts to be powder coated.

I've also found some more bits that I will get zinc plated.

Here is the rear axle, I still need to shape and fit the brake pipes.

Hi all, I hope we are well?

I though it's been a little while since I've posted an update so here goes.

I've fitted the rear axle, front suspension, steering rack, steering column, pedals, headlamps, radiator, brake linkages and brake booster 😁

I had a little play with the suspension after I had managed to get the car off the follies and onto all 4 wheels. I've noticed that the front bags run on the inner turrets. I've emailed D2 and the UK supplier so let's see what they say. Hopefully they'll exchange the bags for smaller diameter ones that don't rub. Only trouble is I've had the kit 3 years. 😲

A couple of pickles for you to have a look at.

I'm also on Instagram if you want to follow the build on there?

The quality of this build is superb.  Your paint finish looks fantastic.  I'll be keeping a check on this thread, some great detail.
