Golf cabriolet "84" restoration

so it begins………
my 1.8gti 8v cabriolet just got sawn today in preperation for its make over.
gonna remove n do the engine
new suspention
full respray including engine bay ect
electric issues
interior
and try to put it all back together.Any advice an support will be appriciate.

took it to the local vw specialist this morning, all excited now cos ive got a list of parts to buy… woop
going to keep everything standard/original parts as poss

She looks like a good solid base. How's the rot in the usual places?

So you're intending to do a full resto with no mods at all? Sounds good.

Take loads of piccies and draw loads of sketches as you take things apart. Use tags on wires too. That way you may have some chance of getting it all back together.

Coming from someone who is in the process of rebuilding, label and bag EVERYTHING. It will save you loads of time when you come to putting it back together, trust me! You can never be too anal when labelling stuff up.

Some things I labelled really well which has made things go so much quicker. For most of it I'm having to either replace bolts or search through buckets to get the right size.

Had it up on the ramps, and even the vw specialist was suprised….. only 2 bad bits, both sills have minor corrosion at the back, but not took the interior out yet so fingers crossed eh lol.

thats exactly what the mechanic said fella, and trust me im gonna have to be anal cos my memory is like a siv..
