I used to have a Mini myself as an additional car for the wife, also a C reg, great to work on, great to drive.
Bought for £120, sold for £200.
However, this one was not Ziebart'd and is now probably in that scrapyard in the sky.

Hatchback lock, had a little issue which way the lock seal went in, a look at previous pictures helped. Shiney chrome again.
Fitted the front windscreen wiper assembly, got to be careful with the paint and sealing around the holes.
Fitted the hatch back strut, somehow managed to lose a brand new pin and a rubber end. Also missing the circlip locks. Had to use an old pin and standard circlips with rubber washers at one end, Dosn't look too bad.
Finally fitted the rear bumper to smarten up the rear end.
Cleaning and reassembling the engine bay post the respray next.

Spend 7 hours getting my fix yesterday, decided to attack the engine bay post the respray.
I focused on the left and front of the engine removing the cambelt cover, alternator, distributor, fuel pump, oil filter mounting, water and fuel pipes for access. I cleaned removing the dust and touching up the paint before refitting them.
I noticed that the paint job on the gearbox wasn't particularly good by the gearbox overhauler so I have started to do that as well. Note the starter motor removed.

Now just get rid of that Halfords oil filter, they are poor quality and more expensive than a genuine VW one!
I bought my last lot of VW filters at a VW show and paid £3 each.
Halfords £6.69

Hi, that's for the comments.
I am using Bilt Hamber Wax dynax S-50, there are pictures on page 21.
Don't worry, I have used the Halfords oil filter for a short term only, I have done approx. 800 miles on it since the rebuild of the engine including going to the AGM in 2012 before the respray.
I already have a pucker VW oil filter, when the car is up and running again I will change the oil and filter.

Thanks for the comments.
I have a bit of wiring to do around the battery / starter motor, got to the get the brown Haynes manual out.
Also some wiring for the spots, fogs and additional centre console gauges. I intend to put an oil temp sensor in the sump plug.
Re: target, hopefully end of April, I need the headlining, windscreens and door upper trims fitted before I can fit most of the internal trim. I am arranging some time with the spray shop to do this.
I also need to look at the seats. I have two sets of the same pattern, need to plump up the drivers seat.

I am due to have my new headlining fitted soon.
I have blue trim on the central and front door posts / A & B pillars, can a number of you please confirm which way the headlining and vinyl overlap each other.
Is it vinyl trim over headlining or headlining over vinyl trim. My spray shop and I have a differing opinion.
Thanks in advance

With a few hours during the week and 8 hours yesterday I have managed to complete the following wiring:
Reversing lights, tick. a bad connection via the plug at the gearbox reversing light switch.
Front wipers, tick. A connection issue again. I did try and see if a Mk2 motor mechanism that I had would work, surprising my Mk1 was better, the Mk2 motor would only work in Fast Mode with no slow speed or intermittant.
Front spots, tick. Hella loom installed.
Additionally, I managed to fit a new automatic Beru aerial.
and an uprated front light loom. I believe that I can put more powerful bulbs in now.
I now have an issue getting the front fogs working via the relay panel, I did manage do it on my previous Mk1 and 2.

The same could be said for mounting the additional relays.
Any advice would be appreciated.
