First car, First project. 1.3 driver!

Post

Hey all, just became a member after buying my first golf (and first car) yesterday. been looking around for a while for a suitable golf for a project and came across this on ebay, after pleading with my dad to help get it back, as it was 2 and a half hours away, we set of saturday at 5:30 am :/

first big challenge after buying was getting it home as conveniently the radiator hose sprung a leak half way back, after a quick fix with some tape from a local diy shop we finally made it back.

Here is how it currently stands from the ebay pictures.

its a solid car, but it needs a lot of work

well its Just had new oil and filter, its sitting on 4 Brand new Yokohama tyres on  BBS 15" alloys, Aftermarket exhaust, Lowered on coil overs. has Recaro Mk3 colour concept front seats, no rear seats, Sony head unit but no front door speakers, Cambelt and water pump has been done recently too. there is also a servo where the boot lock was, so it open with a button on the dash, bit of rust mainly on nsf wing (rest of body is solid) apart from minor spots.
the brakes are a bit lazy so need a service. there is no headlining, parcel shelf and carpets need replacing.

the plan is too get it in a good running order, so new rad and hoses, new brakes and pads, new grill as some damage is present. then get it tuned up as something isnt quite ticking over correctly, it runs but you can feel something not quite right. then a good clean up and some tlc to the bay and may replace the wings as they don't line up. the passenger side door needs some attention as it only closes if you put your back into it. once everything is mechanically sound i will start on the looks, hope fully get the small chrome bumpers for it, then things like the headlining, parcel shelf will go in, i need to source a back bench seat, which i will get reupholstered in black, i also hope to get some original front seats and get the same done to those too. carpets and door speakers needed new too. i probably forgot a few things but you get the gist of it. :D
