Looks lovely mate, I did the same with my battery in the end... I also combined all the res pots into one for the pedal box.

Great work, this is going to be such a nice car when it's finished.

Daft question maybe, but is there any danger of leaving the blue tape on so long - i.e. not being kind when it comes off?

As the paint is still pretty fresh I removed the tape to let the paint breath and dry better. As long as you are careful when removing it you should be fine.

I got my complete kit from Jamie at J Tech Automotive. Really helpful chap.

Well, I felt the same so sent mine off to a company called Vagtronics. Again, really helpful guys and a very quick turn around. They added in a fuse box and fuel pump relay and removed anything that wasnt needed.

Having looked at it, it really wouldnt be hard to do yourself. The only problem is it comes back the same length as you sent it. So if you want to do a loom tuck/ tidy it up a bit then you have to do that yourself which thankfully wasnt a problem for me.

Got a couple more bits ticked off the list this weekend.

Inspired by Olly I got the brake lights working using a lupo switch mounted above the pedal. I made up a little brackets then tacked it onto the pedal box.

Charlie kindly came round and polished a few bits for me.

Map sensor now mounted on the flange I had welded to the IC.

And finally with a bit of help from the old dear, we knocked up a little jacket for the battery using the same material as I used on the false floor and the backs of the seats.

Ok, so this happened at the weekend. Big thanks go to Neil at Carbon Motive for taking some time on Sunday to look over the wiring and help make this happen:

Not too much to report at the moment. After getting the car started I managed to get the brakes and clutch bled and was able to take the car for a spin round the car park. It moved and stopped which was a start but wasnt running very smoothly. I might have eventually been able to sort it out myself, but instead opted to take it round to Olly who is going to get it running rite and tweak a few other bits for me.

Here are a few general phones from the past few weeks:

I moved the mk1 out of Carbon Motive and have now moved it into another mates shop just down the road. I used the daily to tow it down there.

And in its new home:

Loaded up on the trailer ready to head round to Olly:

And the big man himself making a start on it:

Its slightly worrying when you get a message from Olly saying 'Sorry Rich....' followed by this photo:

Thankfully it was followed up with some awesome progress photos.
