I reckon Lady Borednow doesn't slow down for speed bumps personally but she swears she does.
Anyway must be about time to stick on the 4 branch and the new exhaust that's been knocking about for ages.
Might even take a picture or two

Amazing the changes in life that can happen during a build thread!
Lets see,
Got ridiculously stressed with the work situation so changed jobs (less hours and working at home for the first time in 20yrs!)
Sold my lovely Volvo V70.
Bought Lady Borednow a 3 cylinder diesel Arosa, to replace the written off Toyota (great car! can't recommend them enough)
Repaired the written off Toyota Corrolla (a newer version of the mk1 in my opinion) and I was smoking about in that
Bought UJUM
Bought Blackey the Black Golf
Repaired Clive
Then more recently
Lady Borednow broke the Arosa
Toyota got pressed into her service again (i don't know who was more nervous Lady B or the Toyota!)
Toyota decided it didn't want to have oil in the rear shocks anymore
Clive gets pressed into daily service again!
In Clives recent history
After trying everything to else to try and fix the vagueness in the steering final changed out the steering rack. Problem sorted
Clive had a custom stainless steel exhaust made just before the AGM. Good job too. On the way back from the Exhaust shop all I could hear was the noise coming from the rear wheel bearings. Completely shot! Lots of black burnt grease, bear in mind this is Wednesday before the AGM! and Clive is due to do about 700 miles in 2 days.
So they got swapped out pretty sharpish the evening before we were due to leave.
On the way Clive decided he didn't want to idle anymore. I'm assuming idle jets are blocked with rubbish.
A couple of cable ties sorted it, I just pulled the throttle cable through a bit so he ticks over at 1200 revs now instead!
Come November Clive got put back into hibernation as I couldn't afford the tax with xmas coming and everything.
Unfortunately as detailed above evrthings gone a bit Pete Tong so Clives battery was charged, he's taxed and he fired straight into life!
Gotta love old Clive

Lady Borednow got back yesterday with steam pouring out of the engine bay (luckily it was steam and not smoke!)
Turns out Clive didn't like having water on board
He decided to snap of the end of the coolant flange. Guess I did it up a bit tight!
There had always been a bit of weep from this area and I 'meant' to get around to it ages ago, so luckily the parts were in the store
Still all up and running again now
Although there is a buzz coming from the engine bay somewhere………… Plenty of oil so it isn't that.

Yup, head gasket gone. I think Clive was jealous about all the time being spent on Minx.
So it's at the engine builders getting skimmed, valve seats done and oil guide thingies and anything else to put the head back into gleaming as new condition!
Just got to remember how it all came off then!

Oh I'm with you there but then when everything is back together and working you look in the box or workbench and say you what.
Where the hell do those bits go? 🤔 😂
All part of the fun, or so I've been told! 👍

When you put it back together you must have a few bolts left over to chuck in the bin otherwise you have done it wrong

It makes finding the bits I took off difficult! Let alone figuring out what I forgot to put back on!
The heads back from the engine company, skimmed, new oil thingies and 3 angle seat valves all done. Better than new!
Now the big question, given that Clive wouldn't idle and I used some cable ties to keep him running when going up to the AGM last year, should I:
a, put the original Pierberg back on and try and fix it
b, Put a spare pierberg on
c, go for a weber carb instead
d, get the manifold and the twin 40's out of the shed and stick them on.
Clive is my Wifes car! Please bear this in mind with comments!

Went with a carb from a scrap yard in the end, works perfectly.
Once it had been pointed out to me that the rotor arm should be shiny and not black, Clive fired right up!
Also did a little bit of tidying and painting as the head was off and i had a bit of access.
Forgot to install the baffle under the rocker cover and the coolant flange on the front of the engine is leaking (again!) so that needs swapping out.
Piccies to follow once those little bits are sorted
