Got some time in on the tintop tonight which was nice - and I wasn't filling or sanding either which was even better
Attention for now has turned to the boot floor again - want to get the repair sorted properly once and for all. I've got a section of boot floor from another MK1 - it needed the underseal taking off and the remains of the chassis leg removing
I took just some of the paint off the top to know the rust spots would come off easily before I did anything else. They did, so will clean the rest off once it's in place
Job done, just needs a little tidying still
This is where it will go, although only need about a third of this. Just gotta work out the best place to cut it in and where decent, thick metal is
Shall carry on tomorrow with this. Hopefully can get it done quick enough as this weekend I'd like to finish lead-loading the OSR corner.

I found a paint stripping gun helps for the underseal. Just scrapes off once its gone soft and melted a bit.

Yeah I've got a heat gun too that I use, it does work well, best method I've found yet. However, mine broke the other night doing this panel. I'm hoping it's just a blown fuse but yet to check

Blimey, I can't believe it's over a month already since I've done anything on this! However with the weather, the Sportline to sort and work issues time has run away.
Well good and bad news in the short-medium term on carrying on with the work. Having been made redundant I'm having a stab at starting my own business in 'classic' car sales, old Golfs and the like. Therefore, this little beauty of a unit is mine as of this weekend (it will be emptied out for me! )
The bad news for my tintop is this new venture is going to take up a lot of my time, however the goods news is that once I hopefully have things established, I will move the MK1 in here which means space, use of a spit, engine removal, no more laying on my back - happy chuffing days!!!
I do have use of all the space from day one but only half of it is legitimately mine until I pay up for the lot, so I don't want to move the MK1 in until the business is established and I know I have all of the space long term. So there could be a bit of a breather on the resto, but one I can catch up on having decent space to work in. Fingers crossed
