AT LAST! Hairys Resto!!

Small update tonight. I only spent an hour-ish on the car and noticed my being up at 5.30am and being on the road all day must have taken it's toll as my welds were a little erratic so I thought I'd stop before causing any issues! (None caused tonight though)

So that's the filler panel in on the side, just need to finish welding it and the back end and A-post of the sill and job's a good-un!

Thanks for the compliments, I'm chuffed with it - esp. with the limited space and metalworking tools I (don't) have!

Gave it a miss tonight, even in the garage it's too damn cold and windy  :|

I'm not surprised - I didn't fancy it much!

It's much calmer tonight so got a couple of hours in. Getting there;

One more evening session and hopefully I'll have it cracked

Only got a little time on the car today but got the sill finished (pretty much!)

First had to bolt down the threshold under the garage door as the sticky, grippy gunge stuff doesn't stick! Bust my drill too on the last hole  :P

Got it bolted down and realised I'd forgotten to buy the sealer for the front edge! Oh well, it will still let in less water than before, sealer can happen next weekend.

I then moved in to the garage for a picnic  :lol:

…and then finished the sill at the rear end - doesn't look much different to the last pic of it but it's done;

I just need to finish off welding the sill to A-post joint, about another 2 inches to go, tidy a couple of areas on the top flange/door opening and the wobbly lower flange I posted about the other day - I need to remove one weld, push the lower sill up a little and re-weld so it's all straight again.

It's all progress :thumbs:

Not even bothered about your progress once I saw the Caramel wafer 😍😍😍, being on a healthy eating regime and seeing my favourite biscuit, made me uninterested in your hard graft today 😳

So today's update starts off with a special update just for Chris Massbad69  :thumbs:

I didn't seem to get too much done tonight. I've finished most of the sill to A-post joint now. I blew through a thin patch so decided to cut out a little square section and patch it. There's a couple of 'grapes' here but it will all grind out  :)

This side is all done, I just need to finish the forward facing part of the A-post to sill seam.

Looking good Andy. Nice to see you're progressing towards the front. Hope you've got a good supply of grinding and sanding discs :lol:

Keep taking the chocolate for energy. A lot of grinding, a bit of filler and it will all look sweet  :thumbs:

Thanks Dave, really hoping I can get it done for the AGM. I will be getting through lots of sanding 'medium' for sure!

Any excuse for a caramel wafer suits me! I can't wait until I've finished this side so it's all smooth, will be a big turning point I think ;)
