The extra electrics sound like they might be for an engine heater or interior heater of some description. Its law in some parts of Scandinavia that you cannot leave a car idling for more than 5 minutes and with the cold mornings they get, a lot of people plug them into the mains over night.

I think you may be right Yomp . It makes sense now that you've said that. There's a socket in the footwell which obviously indicates an interior heater. I'll take a look around the bay to see where the rest of the cable leads to see if it has anything for the engine.

I'll look forwards to seeing the progress. It'll be amazing when it's done. As it's from Sweden, did it come with a set of studded winter tires?

It didn't Mike. Just came in a set of winters that aren't studded.
Yomp if you look in the right footwell you can just make out the plug socket.

I also started to strip the interior a bit to see what i'm working with. So far it doesn't look too bad I found that the sound deadening was wet on the drivers footwell and was mushy. I pulled it up and expected the worse Fortunately the floor is still solid ! I've found that the inner sill is starting to go on the drivers side too.
The passenger rear arch has had a previous repair done to it, but the outer tub seems solid with a couple of small holes to the inner tub. The drivers side outer tub is starting to go and the inner seems solid on that side.
I managed to take a look inside the drivers door and found that the lower is starting to rot.
Heres the photos

Always fancied a yellow swallowtail to restore
From those pics it looks that the bodywork will keep you busy for a while

The main part of the rot is on the lower A pillar section and drivers side inner wing. I'm determined to get it sorted and haven't let it get me down. On the plus side, the floor is in good condition and pretty solid

So today the strip down happened to see how bad the car actually is.
Blimey that's looks like a some extensive bodywork restoration/fabrication will be needed.
Hats off to you for wanting to do this

who is dipping it? and whats the cost roughly for a mk1?
Envirostrip are dipping it for me and is £895 without any primer. It costs £300 - £500 depending on what primer you want on it thought.
Irvs wants it left as is so he can sort any remaining bits of rust if there is any and then he will primer it himself.
