3.0 vr6 itb

Post

Hi, I've been a member for just over a month now and thought it was about time I started my build thread. Had the car for a few years and never done anything with, so I've had a kick up the backside from the wife to get it sorted! As the title suggests it's going to be fitted with a 3.0 vr6 block that I have and run with itb's on megasquirt standalone ecu.I've just sorted out a body shop to get all the rust sorted along with a full respray, so whilst I wait for the shell to go in I can start building the engine. This is how it stands at the moment,

Hi, and welcome

Sounds like an ambitious (and pant destroying) project. Good luck with it, keep us posted.

Hi Matt, cheers for the welcome. Cannot wait to hear the engine fire up for the first time. Looking at building up the throttle bodies and manifold this weekend in work! I will be flooding the thread with photo's!!

Just iching to get started! The shell is pretty solid to be fair, just a couple of areas that need sorting. Want to get the engine and gearbox in asap to sort out any clearance issues with the throttle bodies, and then sort out the routing of megasquirt loom and lighting loom.

Here are the gsxr 1000 throttle bodies I have

I need to split these two sets to make one row of six so I can fit them to this manifold!!!

The car will be going in for body work and full respray at the end of the month, been in work all easter weekend, so having a play around with the manifold and looking at what it will look like, not got round to seperating the throttle bodies yet, waiting for threaded bar to come but this is how it looks

Bet it sounds AWSOME, just a thought will u have to use 3 long trumpets and 3 short trumpets to keep the inlet tract lengths equal?

Post

Cannot wait to hear it fire up for the first time! I have looked into the unequal length trumpets but I will look into that after I've got it up and running.

Cheers Matt, I'm currently stuck in work on nights, but brought the manifold in with me to use our parts washer and to assemble the throttle bodies

This was before it was cleaned

All cleaned and seperated

Now with all six together!!!

Filters on, cannot wait to hear this thing fire up!

I know what you mean Sam! Made up with how it has turned out!

Took the cylinder head into work to start the clean up and rebuild.
