Ok - recap and update

When I bought it







Whats happened since






then whats recently happened







Its ended up having a new rear panel, two new rear arches, a new filler panel, a new drivers sill and various repairs to the A-pillar and inner wings.  Its currently awaiting primer and paint, its been in a while but I got a cheap quote based on it being worked on around other cars..

The bodyshop is getting there…

Starting to take shape mate !!

I love to see them in the body shop :-)

Good to see that they have primed in two colours so that they can find the high and low spots.

Do you think we might see her at the AGM 2012 ?

No unfortunately I don't think it will be ready for then.  I've only been to one AGM and that was 2010 I think (orange sticker) And it seems to have came on a lot since then, I think I'm be there sans mk1…

I will make the next one tho.

Yes they are going on as well as a headliner etc, it's got to get back from the body shop to where it is stored on a dolly so windows etc were put back in, they will be coming back out don't worry mate :-)

Cheers for the comments, I'm comitted to saving this one! Special cars are worth saving

It's looking good mate mines up and running now so it should be in for paint very soon

She is getting picked up from the body shop today at 1! And I'm travelling up to Newcastle on Wednesday to go and see her! <3

Update tomorrow

So I went up to Newcastle today to look at the mk1



I thought id try and get it running again, After a few hours of frustration we got it running but pretty rough.  The connectors on the fuse box kept falling out etc.

I also seem to have an oil leak so this happened



This is coming out next time I get up there for something a bit juicier…

3.5 years later…………

Its not changed a bit!

However things will be moving on very quickly very soon.

P.S - how expensive have Mk1's got in the last 12 months!? CRAZY!

Glad to hear you are back on it, but as you said mate they have been going up rapidly in price lately , so it been making money whilst its been sat there  

yes seems like the days when you could get a decent GTI for under £2000 are long gone - the price of series 1's in particular are through the roof.

Its good to see some old faces still here such as yourself.

Im making a pact with myself - this will be finished for the annual gathering 2016 - the last one I attended was 2009!!!
