'No rush' Cabrio - low down green machine

Post

So I have acquired my first MK1 but not first A1 chassis.  Having owned 3 Scirocco's and currently building the monster 'White lady' as seen in the Other projects forurm page I came across this cabrio local to me as I was looking for a fun summer toy..
The car has had 12 owners and around 2010 it was built as you see it now..  Personally I hate the look so I have set about removing the decals and stickers and looking at a decent resto all over.

Its called No Rush because the missus said there is no rush on the build - anxiety kicks in wanting to get things done when really I have no rush to complete it

So what have we got?

Modifications:
- Spax fully adjustable coilovers.
- Scorpion exhaust.
- Cobra alarm and immobiliser with sensors on doors, boot and bonnet.
- Wireless and electronic central locking operated through a key fob (spare also included)
- Mini Starmag wheels with custom hub adaptors. Yokohama A539 tyres all round; all have plenty of tread.
- Full hydraulic/electric hood system retrofitted.
- Momo race steering wheel
- Larger diameter drilled front disc brakes
- Re-sprayed Oak green
- Car has been swage line smoothed and the front bumper has also been smoothed
- The previous owner also applied a matt vinyl strip to each side of the car along with “sticker bombing” the front right corner and the rear left corner.
- Sony CD player with AUX input, Vibe front speakers and JBL subwoofer.

Sounds like a great little car but a lot of it I have now uncovered to be thrown together and not very good at all.
Plan was to throw a few hundred at her and have a sweet little cab but that may escalate to near £1000 after paint and interior replacement.

Looking forward to it and have started work on her so will get more pics as I go..  plan is to push OEM+ with a little euro twist

If you drink 10 beers, tilt your head whilst wearing the tinted glasses at 45 degrees even the graffiti must look cool.

All joking aside, it's a one off and I look forward to following it's progress as a project!

Well its definately got some nice parts to it. And door cards van be found  with tweeter holes for standards if that's wanted. The graffiti sticker are nice. Pedals are take or leave..Some paint and rubber on no issues. But to be honest if you looking to make it a grands worth of car means you got it cheap as chips. It's a summer car so plenty of time it's still snowing..

So she is now de stickered,  vinyl ' and glued! Horrible job as only petrol would shift it!
Now there are 2 types of people that sticker their cars.. those who want to make it look cool and those who want to hide damage or shoddy workmanship.. I got the latter I reckon!
Still she looks better for it and when she has been off for paint she will be back to her best.. but as always.. No Rush!

So things are progressing..

I have a full service lined up for the engine, new clutch cable and gear linkage repair kit too

I also went on my travels for an interior complete with carpet for an absolute steal of a price.. included also were the upper interior door trims in use able condition for a whole £10 😲
Here is a sneak of the seats cloth..

The replacement carpet to go in but first I had to remove the old, clear some water ingress and source some new underlay..

So tonight saw me add soundproofing and plastic membrane to the passenger door and fit of the door card.. really pleased with it and the car now has a decent thud sound when the door is closed! Looking forward to getting the other side and the rear cards done tomorrow
