So, yesterday afternoon I spent a few hours on the Mk1 and had a good look at the engine which currently looks like this:

..Awful

I've managed to sort a place to keep & fix the engine once it's out, so some progress there…Unfortunately I have decided that it'd probably be best if I just replace the engine and put something better in there for the time being, Polo engine maybe? I'll need some help with that and deciding which would be the easiest swap at some point..any advice?

I rearranged my interior & cleared any junk out of her, when I moved I just chucked everything back in so it was a bit of a mess..looks like this now:

Carpets are now out and ready to be washed at some point this week, but not tonight as I'm at the monthly Mk1 meet ;) it's also looking likely that I'll finally purchase my replacement windscreen end of this month I can't wait!!!

Almost 10 months later and I've finally cleaned my carpets!!

I took them out at the weekend ready to wash at my house some point in the week, and here they are:

Some before and after photos I'll give them another quick clean at the weekend and they will be ready to go back in the car!

Progress!!!

Looks like you have been cracking on with the car. Are you buying g a new windscreen or are you wanting my old one? I have placed an order for my new one so the old one is going spare. There are some very small stone chips on the screen from years of use but nothing that will fail an MOT. If you want a new one then that's fine because I can keep it as an emergency spare. 😆

Yes! She will have it! She's forever asking me to travel to places like Bristol to try and pick one up.. at least you're slightly local!  :)

I'll definitely have it! When will it be ready to collect?

I'm busy this weekend but I can get it ready for you Monday so any time after that. I'm on afternoons next week so can do mornings only or we could do next weekend? Let me know what's best for you and we can work something out.
MikeBott93 better get used to the travelling, lots more parts to get yet 😀
VW Heritage just told me they can't get a genuine windscreen any more so have cancelled my order!!!! Looks like I'm off for a drive to France to pick one up. 😭

Next weekend would be perfect! how much are you wanting for it?

That's a shame, did they give a reason why?

I love eBay specials

I also got the keys to my new shed last night!! So excite.

This will be where my old engine sleeps at night & hopefully gets fixed at some point over the next couple of years…

You can have it 😊
I sold the car with all of the glass, including the windscreen, to the strange bloke you bought it off (I'm guessing it was the same bloke)So it's only fair  you have all the glass too. I only ask that if ever you get a new glass then can I  have the old one back? If you don't get a new glass then it's yours to keep.
Next weekend is good for me.
I will PM you my phone number later in the week if that's OK and we can sort out a time and I might even be able to meet you at Kegworth if that makes things any easier?

Are you sure?! You can definitely have it back when I finally get a new one
He gave away a few things from what I've gathered, I've had people randomly comment on my photos saying they've taken this, that, and the other off!

That's fine :) I don't mind coming all the way, but if you fancy meeting in Kegworth that's gravy
