'83 Mk1 Golf Formel E

It was hard enough for me to part with her so I know how you feel. You should have a go at repairing the engine! It's easier than you think. I had the engine running and the bottom end was rattling slightly and the head gasket has gone but with some TLC she could be like new. You could always strip the engine down and see how you get on with it and if it's too difficult buy a new one. Just a thought.  I'm glad you kept her though.

What's up with the one in it?

I'll have it off you if you don't want it :P

The gasket is gone & I'd love a bigger engine! Would you be interested in it if i wanted to get rid? :)

I've been toying with the idea of a rebuild…I had the same engine in my old Polo and it was no fun at all.

For the money I would spend fixing it, I could get something a tad more reliable & faster. I'd never scrap the current engine though!

I'll try not to take offence to the 'no fun at all' and 'more reliable' comments :lol:Oreo is still going strong 102k miles on and has never missed a beat.

It's a shame you aren't keeping her original though. I looked recently, for insurance purposes, at how many are left on the road and it's only 39.

If you really want rid, I'll come and collect it. I'm only in Rugby

It's just from my own past experience with the engine, it couldn't get up hills or anything! Also, they seemed to love blowing head gaskets as often as possible   ..or maybe it's just me!

I will definitely be getting rid at some point, a friend of mine has a 1.1 sitting around and has offered for me to buy it, not sure if that's a good idea though

Haven't had any time at all to even go and see the Golf recently  :(.

When I next have the time I want to clean up the carpet and seats ready to go back in all nice & clean! I'm going to try and put all of the interior back in and see what I do and don't have in the car, at least then I can start making a list of all the little bits I need to get my hands on..  .

That's all….for now! ;)

Still haven't had the chance to do the above  :'(

BUT…I got a nice little wage increase today, so that means I will now have lots of extra pennies to start splashing on the Golf!!

Soon..
