Hey Jason, sorry about the lack of reply on here - we're a UK based club so hard for us to add value on the rabbits! You might be best having a look through the search and messaging a member in the states that owns one, I'm sure we have a few on here - good luck with it!

Jason,

Now this is strange because I saw this car on this website back on the 20th of May 2015!
I fact it was posted "20 May 2015, 8:18 PM" the same day as this post.

http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=chat%2Fmk1-golf-chat_2%2Five-been-offered-this

By any chance, do you go by another Club name of jasoniow ?
Does the "iow' stand for the Isle of Wight?
I ask because I'm a real 100% 'Corkhead' as I was born there, even though I now live in Austria and only 50 minutes from the Hungarian border.  ;)
Talk about a small world!

If your wondering why I remember this, it's because it's not everyday a 'US Westmoreland' with Hungarian plates comes up for sale!

These Westmoreland's are very difficult to put even a rough price on them and not just because there's not many around.
It's the fact that they are just not everyone's cup of tea.

Your going to need to know a whole lot more about the car before you can guess at what it might be worth!
I've seen them advertised for very strong money because some people think and feel they are extra special as we don't see that many in Europe.
On the other hand I've seen them go for a lot less depending on all of the above.

The one thing you have to be 100% sure of is that the car is a real Westmoreland first and not something that's been made to look like one.

You need to see a proper photo of the dash as that will be slightly different to a Euro spec MK1 and the interior including the seat material will be different.

Them you might just have to go with your gut feeling and hope your right!
Please remember that I am no expert of these.

BTW.
I was born in Blackwater and my Father was born in one of the workers cottages at Osbourne House!

Thanks for the info mate , I think it's my cup of tea as it's slightly different to most , I've a few I'll be looking at as the other half wants one to do some hill climbs in as well , I hope she knows she will be paying for it lol .
I have seen the GAP game the other day , but I'm sure I've seen them advertised on my hunt around Europe , it seems like in places like Hungary etc golfs go up for sale and stay for sale for ages.  If you would like pics and links to more for sale for the game of GAP I'll be happy to help , I've seen some that people are asking stupid prices for and others that get put on sites for next to nothing, there was a campaign in Slovakia that was sold for what worked out as £200 , but I missed out by half an hour .

So if your dad was born in ( well around a royal estate ) you may just be the next king of England hahaha

Jason,

Love the WestMoreland! I am sure they are rare in Europe. I can say that in America they go between $1,000 and $12,000 depending on shape and motor. What it is worth to you is more important. I would say 6K is about average here for one in good shape. That would be American dollars, which I imagine are not very strong right now. I have a German built Rabbit (76) and I have a hard time finding parts here in the States. I imagine you may have a difficult time in Europe finding Westmoreland parts. I wish you the best of luck with your Rabbit, she is a beauty. If you have specific questions please feel free to ask.
