Inherited beetle & mk1

Sad times as my cousin died in a car accident early this year. He was on snakes pass going to Manchester when a lorry went on his side of the road and hit him head on. Only comfort I can take is he died instantly. He loved old Volkswagens as do I and he left me a beetle and his golf gti

I got the keys off his partner the other day and was very shocked to find the gti in the garage as he kept that one quiet! I was told it was just a golf…. I pulled back the cover and there it was, awoken from hibernation.

I will keep the Rivage as it is a proper garage find and it totally original and in fab condition.

The bug is a 1962 1200 but I have given it to a charity auction as I am more of a watercooled guy and at least whoever buys the bug will cherish it and money goes to charity which is what he would have wanted.

I will love this car and keep it safe. I feel like a big responsibility has been put on my shoulders to look after his prized hidden golf. His partner said he rarely even took it out, but you can tell he had replaced almost every component underneath. New hood and everywhere you look its been replaced or restored to original.

Either way I'd stay away from eBa and go more main stream with the Charities your Dad wanted to support a major car Classic car auction house who's prepared to wavier their costs!  

But in the spring season for the price if you get my meaning!  

So sorry to hear of your lost. Credit to you on the bug and hopefully we can all help you with advice to keep the Rivage in top condition for many years.
