Hi all,
First time Golf owner here, although I've had my mk2 Scirocco for a couple of years now.
Been meaning to buy a mk1 since I could drive but long story short ended up part-exchanging another car with a 1987 cabriolet GTI!
It was (and still is) in a rather sorry state but it'll be my first restoration project once I have it back from the garage.
I found my research led me to this forum constantly so figured I'd finally pull the finger out and join up, seeing it's such a good resource.
Cheers, and will put together a build thread soon!

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Here's a pic or two from when I got it to when it went off to the garage.
Like I said, it's a bit of a shocker…don't judge me!
When I brought it home…
Mid-plasti dip removal…
Many sore fingers later!
It's very much a work in progress, and I'll start typing up a build thread soon. Got lots of plans!

With you on the sore fingers - I 'unwrapped' a van recently. Ouch, had no finger prints left! lol
Looking forward to updates

Firstly a warm welcome to the club…
Unwrapped is definitely better keep the pics rolling in - we have a project section - you should kick one off to keep us up to date on the progress.

Been a bit busy to start a build thread but should be picking up the Cabby later this afternoon where it's spent some (read: lots of) time in the garage!
Will start a build thread soon I promise, it's sure to divide a few opinions anyhow

Start a new post up in the your projects section so we can follow your progress on there.
Good luck and use the google search facility on here too, very good for finding all sorts of answers.
