hi, i own a 1983 convertible which i got back on the road last summer for the first time since 1997 .i have had a few vw's in the past, but this is my first golf and she is a bit of a one off to say the least !
i have a bit of a problem that i hope someone may be able to help me with though….:ocf_emoticons__BangHead:   the oil pressure warning light is flashing like a stripper on a stag doo and the buzzer warning sound is on too , for no apparent reason.  the battery was flat and after recharging and putting it back on , i have these problems . dies anyone have any ideas on what it could possibly be ??
any help or ideas would be much appreciated !

No oil pressure due to lack of oil or oil pump failure ?

A failed oil pressure sensor.

Could really be low oil pressure but prob more likely welcome to the world of old MK1 Golf electrics/electronics

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Try an oil pressure test on the engine...my engine has low pressure on tickover when warm (tired engine) so I run it on slightly thicker oil

I'm pretty sure you've 2 oil pressure switches on your car. One for idle and one that sets the buzzer off if the pressure doesn't meet the required level over 2500 revs. So if it's idling ok with no buzzer and no oil light on then your oil pressure is probably ok and its probably the 2500 revs oil pressure sender that's faulty.
