My first MK1 Golf GTI Cabby...

Post

Hi all… Thought I'd share a couple of piccies of my first Mk1 GTI Cabby… Very pleased!!!!

Body work appears sound, few areas of paint lacquer peeling, but cant see any rust/rod. Running a tad rich (1000/11000 rpm idle), bit of a misfire (A sod to pull away, but fine once up to about 2000rpm), Full leather that'll need a bit of TLC (But very comfortable), lots of seals need replacing, roof works fine and no leaks (Apparently) but looks tatty. Seat runners needs replacing too. Overall a great car, and i've fallen in love ha ha!!!

Oh and no name yet…other than Bert (My daughters idea)

Cheers guys!! Yes very pleased… Few minor issues to correct, but no rush. Just going to enjoy for the summer. And when I've plucked up the courage i'll have a bash at sorting the timing and adjusting the tappets (Not very hands on - But trying to be more so), Valve stem seals need doing too, maybe over my head that one. Good service and Re-spray (Few patches of lacquer peeling) and renew as many seals as I can…

A.G a bit to soon for us here, daughters birthday weekend and don't trust the new arrival on a too long a drive yet.

She is having some bits done on her, new bushes and wishbones and hopefully today new shocks, and missing a few bits, parcel shelf and boot liner/carpe. But looking forward to lots of happy driving
