Mk1 cabriolet Roof struts/helper rams

Does anyone have any pics of how the roof rams/ helper struts attach to the body?

When I bought my car it didn't have any roof struts attached to it 😬

I can see how they attach to the roof frame but I can't see how they attach to the body of the car and I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light? Or if anyone has any pics, could take a pic for me.

Ive just replaced mine and did have some pictures but can't find them at the moment. I'm thinking from your description this is a manual roof?
Have you got the brackets that attach the strut to the car? I've found a picture from someone selling these on ebay so you can see what I mean.

If not these are what you need, I can take a few pictures tomorrow for you but it's not an easy area to photograph.

Hi Dan, ah yeh I have the brackets thanks mate, I just can't see how they attach to the car. I'm guessing to the inside side of the rear wings however I think mine must have rusted through at some point because there isn't anywhere to attach the bracket to anymore 😱 yeah it's a manual roof.. Oh btw I have been a member for some time but I just haven't used the site for a while. Thanks for your help mate and if you do manage to find them pics, it would be very helpful to see. Sorry for the delay in responding. Been laid up with a knackered neck for a few days. Anyhow I've not managed to take a pic of my car but found a good photo from this thread. Scroll down to section 10 and hopefully that should give you an idea if you are missing anything or where it should go.

Thanks and glad to help. The brackets are different for each side, look similar but just handed different for each side.
