Mk1 20VT Noob!

Post

Hey all, taken me a while to get round to doing this but I've been building this for a few months now so I thought I'd share some pics and say hi!

image.jpeg  The car is a campaign spec German import (always RHD, not converted) but due to chassis numbering isn't a proper campaign, it just has all the specification.

I've completed a 20v swap using an AUQ motor and oem management plus a few other "goodies" along the way 😉

Let me know your thoughts, I'm open to comments ☺️ image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Awesome! Love the seats dude

Do you always run it without a front grille?

Cheers, I get lots of comments on them!

I tend to run it without most of the time due to oil cooler location etc, just for maximum air flow through the front end but when it's stood still I tend to slot it back in for the sleeper look… It definitely doesn't sound like a sleeper though!

Yeah the seats are different which is why they probably stand out!

Which turbo are you running with the AUQ? KO3S?
What kind of power are you running there?

Also noticed the steering wheel too - any pics of that?

I may be biased as I have one too but I personally believe Helios Blue is the best colour for a mk1!👌

Very nice. I have an AUQ donor car sat here waiting for the right moment. How did you get on with the loom? Did you send it away or do it yourself ?

Also have you got the Rev counter working?

Good choice sir, HB is a cracking colour and it really does get some admiration wherever I take it. So currently it's about 230bhp (which is more than enough!) but I've got a whole pile of goodies I'm debating on whether to fit as I'm half tempted to sell if I'm being brutally honest… We'll see. One of those goodies is a BBT turbo 🙈😁

The wheel is a Nardi deep corn 330mm, I'll post some pics below 👍🏻

I had a friend help me with the loom, wasn't that difficult once you've got your head round it but the internet guides are a wonderful tool, and wiring diagrams for both mk1 and the donor car are essential IMO.  I bought the car already half converted in fairness so a lot of the work was done.

Yep, works fine, I've got a tach adapter in there that seems bang accurate!

fantastic looking conversion i really like this style you have managed to keep a stylish classic looking car with the advantage of the newer power.  can i ask how you have the drive by wire set up? is it a diy fabrication of the mk4 pedal onto your original columb?
i am about to put an auq in mine and was going to go full bias pedal box  because of the hydro clutch and dbw throttle. many thanks

Thanks
! I'm not gonna lie I picked up the pedal box with the car so it was already half done and it seems to work perfectly so I just left it as it! I've used a cable clutch and whilst I know this isn't as user friendly as a hydro clutch conversion, it's been perfectly fine for me so far, even with an uprated clutch and ive done over 600 miles in it so far!

Thank you sir! Another 220 miles covered today without issue and it's had some great comments and feedback. Even there and back on the A1 people are giving it thumbs up as they pass. Just need to get a few final bits sorted and then it's time for some track action!
