Thought i would introduce myself,my names George i'm 19 and an apprentice mechanic been working on cars since i was 15, been on this site a few times but just remembered i made an account a while back, I've liked the mk1 golfs since i was about 12 and ive hopefully found a nice little project to get underway, i was wondering if i could get some opinions of the car before i buy it as its quite cheap at £600 needs the rear arches cutting out and new ones are supplied, no tax no mot but apparently its solid underneath its an 83 gold 5 door 1.5gl apparently the interior is in good nick and would be mint if cleaned up, hopefully ill get some feed back and ill post a couple pictures

Welcome mate.

Best way to learn is to work on them - I cut my teeth on a 71 Beetle - a few years ago now !!

Get some pics up - loads of folk on here will help you.

2014 sees a great year for the Mk1 Golf, 40th anniversary and 10th for the Club - gonna be a massive AGM in July :-) Hopefully you can make it !!

Cheers,
Ade

The car looks smart as does the cat but the cat will need to be moved to the rear parcel shelf!

hi guys :) think im going to have to pass on this one, she showed me a walkaround video of it and look like a fair bit of painting is needed and think its a bit to much to take on, id rather have oily bits to tackle  ill just have to wait for something else to pop up, and hopefully a bit closer!:(

Nevermind mate I am sure something will pop up that catches your eye. Keep looking on here and the other usual sites and don't jump into buying one :)

only problem for me is i dont have a very big budget for a car :( being on apprentice wages really doesnt help, max id have to spend is about £1000 and i havnt seen anything worth buying for that money lol, just want something with a clean rust free body, with either a knackered engine or none at all, something easier than bodywork  or i may just need more money…. ha
