Hi from Loughborough :)

Hi everyone, I'm Mike, I'm 21 and from Loughborough in Leicestershire!
I have had my 1982 Mk1 GTI for just over a year and have put in a fair few hours, days, weeks, erm, a lot of time into it and don't even get me started on money, i'm sure a lot of you chaps already know about that though..
I've been on here for around a year too but never posted (wish i did after reading a few threads!), I'll be a bit more active now :).
I nearly have my GTI where i want it, but there are still quite a few little details that i need to go over.
I am going to be rebuilding my girlfriends mk1 with her as of this weekend which should be fun and i believe she will be doing a build thread to track our progress so keep your eyes peeled people!
I use my Golf as a weekend car and an endless money pit so it is constantly being played with.
I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of new people on here and sharing some ideas!

looks a nice car too, lol you just think you've finished then you see something else you'd like to do.

There is a Region Derby/Notts/Leics to join and hopefully once summer gets here there will be a few meets.
Get a build thread up in the your projects forum too that way we can see all the pics and updates.

There's a wealth of info on here for you to have a look through and the google search bar top left is great for that too.

It isn't bad, you are right though, i think it is never ending.

I went to a show with the region last year and it was awesome, we had our own stand, about 10 mk1's.

It was a rot box and I moved onto E30s instead, reunited with the Mk1 it replaced

Yeah, that's my girlfriend! We're working on her project a little more than mine at the mo as it is in for spray as of next weekend!

I'm not sure whether to start my own build thread or not at the moment as most of the hard parts have already been done and it's just minor cosmetics and easy stuff from here on! (hopefully)
 

You may as well start a proper thread, there's always little bits to be done!

I'm in the Whatsapp group too - although I had silenced it as my phone was pinging way too much 24/7!    Hopefully we'll get to meet up and see your MK1 at a meet soon, I would have thought next month will be the first meet of the year - first Wednesday of the month.  

you do mike, i seen a photo from you pop up the other day, just took a little while to put 2 and 2 together.

Haha Hairyarse , i'm in the same boat, muted on mine too, i'm quite active though… now and then.
I may make a thread when i get round to it, i don't really have many pictures of me doing things mid-job, just the before and afters haha, may start now though! I won't be going to any shows in the mk1 until May unfortunately but i'll be hovering around in my little Fezza no doubt.
