Recently Purchased cabby GTI

Hi Im new to this site and relatively new to VW Golfs, I brought my brothers old MK1 Cabby of him 2 wks ago that hes owned for 10 yrs five of which the golfs been sat on his drive under a cover, So £50 to a friendly Recovery truck driver and its now sat in my garage. Its a 1984 MK1 Golf GTI Convertible in Black, The body work looks pretty tidy not alot of rust showing and a pretty tidy interior. In the 2 wks ive owned it ive taken out the interior brought a new intank fuel sender unit and fitted it and a new battery and spark plug set and a couple of the big fuses hoping that would get it started but no luck yet. Im not the greatest mechanic more a have a go sort of lad but it seems like quite a pleasent car to work on so far. Im more into Motorbikes over the last 8 yrs but after a theft of my last fireblade last yr im looking forward to hopefully getting the cabby on the rd and going back lane bashing with the wind in my hair and best Pal(pet dog) by my side something hed never get chance to on bike lol.
Im looking forward to delving into the forums and site and now im a paid member looking forward to flexing that discount we get as the car is going to need a few more parts to get the engine fired up and a new set of boots(tyres) and brakes at the very least. If nothing else i need to get it on the rd to show my older brother what hes missing by letting it sit for 5 yrs.

Welcome Guy, that doesn't look like it needs too much work. Will you MOT it asap and do a rolling resto or wait until everything is done?
