Hey guys,

I'm Drew, 28 from Gateshead and I've recently bought a MK1 1.8 Clipper cabby. I don't know much about the mechanical aspects of cars, so I feel this is a good opportunity to learn the ins and outs of a motor.

I bought the car with ATS Cup alloys. It was lowered on springs, had Bug headlight brows and a full leather interior from a MK3. I've since acquired a 1990 cassette deck to replace the CD player already in and an alternator to replace the current one which has rattling bearings. A friend showed me how to do an oil change and I've replaced a few bulbs that had burnt out.

I guess the natural change will be a move to a Webber system, which will be interesting! I'd also like to upgrade the breaks, replace the aerial which doesn't actually go down at all and the front splitter has a crack in it so will also need replaced.

The idea is to have it ready for show season next year, to a high quality. We'll see how that goes!

Welcome Drew!!

That's a nice looking Cabby, it doesn't sound like it needs too much work?

Like the all black colour scheme sets off the ATS wheels very well, still one of my favourites. Like the picture in typical Summer Cabrio weather!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

In terms of work required;

- New splitter, current one is badly cracked on corner.
- New bonnet, current one is creased due to manner in which it has previously been closed.
- New alternator, current one has rattling bearings
- Existing doorcards need glued, some cracks and distortion due to age and i imagine, heat exposure.

Other than that, and the desire for Weber carbs, the car is sound and so fun to drive around. I really enjoy it!
