Hello from East Yorkshire!

Hello everyone, my names Luke and I've finally bought the car I always wanted; a MK1 Golf!



She's a 1983 1.5 GL, I picked her up at auction a few weeks ago. Owned by one old couple from new with full service history and all work receipts, it's a huge stack! There's a lot to be done still, but so far she's been thoroughly serviced, all filters replaced, brakes serviced, fuel system cleaned, new rotor arm, new dizzy cap, new filler neck, new locking fuel cap, new aerial, new mudflaps, got the radio and spotlights working and many other small bits and pieces…

Big thanks to my mate Nick who has been showing me the ropes as this is my first endeavour with a classic car. Cheers mate. Anyway everyone likes pictures so here's a few more for you.

Where in East Yorks are you? Close enough to Lincoln? - We have a regional meet there on Saturday afternoon

I'm near Beverley, just North of Hull, so normally Lincoln would be within reach. However I am sending my carb off for reconditioning tomorrow so she'll be off the road for at least 6 weeks!   Ah well. at least I'll have plenty of time to work on her. Thanks for the invite though mate, once she's running again I'll be sure to get to some meetups.

Cheers mate! Got her for £1100, which I was happy with.  

That's a shame Luke we can't see it. Still come though if you're free and have wheels, you don't have to turn up in a MK1.

I haven't yet - today will be the first time I turn up in a Golf, but it will be a MK2!
