Hi names Anthony, just got my hands on a 1983 golf diesel with too many doors.

pretty clean and tidy overall needs some work on the rear panel and rear arches but looks solid every where else.

were based in pagham near bognor regis. will try to get to some meets at some point.

any way it looks like this

its pretty much out of the box standard other than the wheels the coilovers and it has a half leather toledo interior.

Hi Anthony and welcome along. Looks a decent MK1 you've got there. What's your plans for her?

Any one know how many of these are left? It's a golf c 1600 diesel. I believe it was imported brand new. Not sure if the diesel were unavailable uk at the time. Have the service book and its first stamp is uk cobham. Still has early plates with short phone number as well.

That looks very nice. You cant beat a dirty diesel. Get it driven and chuck some soot out the back end.
Welcome to the site and enjoy your stay.

Had its first day on the road today. Paid the massive sum of £88 for fully comp insurance so all good to go.  Had a few teething problems but its pretty good to drive. Found a leaky coolant pipe that I've changed for a universal halfrauds one. Will get one on order this week.  Also discovered my wiper blades are shot and tend to fall off on the "fast" setting.
Keeps up with traffic a lot better than I'd hoped for and the ride is pretty comfy. It's revival weekend at goodwood this week so its been fairly modern compared to some of the cars about down here.

The niggles continue but mostly just been enjoying rolling around in the old banger.  Had a diesel leak at the pump cured that with a couple of new copper washers and a fresh hose. Also found that the rear drum brakes and wheel bearings are pretty much shot to bits so will be ordering a full kit next week and replacing the lot.
Nothing like a few little jobs to keep me busy. Once these are Done i will get the rear corners sorted and freshen it all up a bit.
