Any advice appreciated

Hi all!!

I'm new to the site so firstly i'll say hey!!, secondly i have a MK1 golf cab Karmann and have just changed the steering rack, my question is that I've been told i need to fill the gators with grease but have also been told not to bother!! bit confused and wanted to ask you all for advice on the situation????

i did mine over summer, i smeared high temp grease on the teeth/gearing before fitting it, not sure if i was supposed to or not but it cant hurt anything and mines been fine
