All - can't help thinking we need to raise the profile of this event - I don't know what's being done behind the scenes on this so apologies if it's all in place.  What I'd suggest is:

Contact the VW mags to get a mention - Including some of the classic mags
Get something up on the home page as you have to dig a bit to find this thread
Get a notice board to go up on the club stands advertising it
Get some links up on other sites to the AGM page
Oh and some others I'm sure.

Link on my website to here - http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/

I agree, not sure how I can help but I'm pretty handy with advertising - design wise if you need any?

An advert will go onto the home page around 4-6 weeks before the event. It could do with being popped into the events calendar though, just so we can all look at it and plan our weekends, etc.

Why does it have to be 4-6 weeks??  Should go on asap imo.  Most shows are advertised months and months in advance.

My main concern is that only 22 people have voted so far - so the message must not be getting out there.

I agree! After the appearance of the club in Golf + I think we should be pushing for more members to join and come to the AGM.

Doesn't do any harm to advertise the show on other club forums, plenty do the same on here.

I agree too, the sooner the better. Either stick on homepage or even replace the banner top centre of the page with new one mentioning dates, location etc

start a thread in general chat and DONT move it will make more people see it..
advertise it as a MK1 show, not just the MK! Owners club meeting weekend, that'll help raise the profile as well..

If i start a link, can it not be moved from general chat???????

Hi Steve

We have a sticky in the General Chat section with more details of the event http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=43543

There is also an advert on the home page, plus we have given out flyers at Inters and will be doing the same at North Weald, Retro and Festival.

We are keeping the name (Mk1 Golf Owners Club Annual Show) as is, as it is the Club that are organising it and we need to keep the link to raise the profile of the Club. All Mk1 enthusiasts are welcome to both the show and the Club without being an owner.

Hi Rajan

I see the thread now mate, thanks, (although it was posted a day after i mentioned it)

i understand why your promoting it as the owners club show, but to non owners clubs members they might not read on to find out they are still welcome.. thats what i meant..

good to see the sticky there tho
