Is the plan still to meet at Knutsford services Paul, then onto Hilton Park to meet up with the others?

I dont think I'll get away from home much before 5:30am as I have wife and son to get moving, which will see me at Knutsford sometime after 6:15. So I'll pm you Paul with a mobile number and you can call Saturday am.

6:30 Knutsford Services
7:15 Hilton Park Services
8:30 arrive GTI Inters

Yep, I'm going to be well sleepy at 6:30am too!!!! Hopefully we don't be driving through rain, though, and we can 'make up' time if needs be.

Hello there people,

I've been to GTi 2007, and given up and come home after a wonderfull night more in a sec,

Im ref to the last post I arrived walked onto the Club stand and borowed a pass from the people there, went back to my car and drove it onto the stand putting the pass back in the original car no problems for space the stand is huge if the stands full you'll see as soon as you go to the stand

Stand is 1100 from the end of the carpark,
or
0230 from the VW Stand (facing the car park)
If you still cant find it on the way in ask where the stand is and they tend to point it out to you

Well GTi 2007,

Went friday night to the campsite as it just started to thunder  :?

Luckily on arrival the rain had stoped for a bit :D , drove into the campsite up a hill in the field half churned up by other cars but mainly green. Didnt think much of it as I arrived but a Van had got stuck half way up to get in (bad sign shame I missed it) Drove really slowly to keep the golf clean for sat NICE.

Set up my tent next to another MK1 thinking it was maybe one of you chaps/Ladies. No didnt find a single one of you people at the site anways it was nice then the rain came back  :?

after a bit there was a lovely river running through my tent about 2" DEEP  yay I could fish inside my tent perfect. When the rain stoped most people moved there tents to higher ground (where the sensible people had set up camp)

My tent was in the middle

Was a pretty decent night after another long down poor which I had my BBQ in still sausages tasted great shame YOU WERN'T THERE!!!

The campsite was on the side of a hill to get in you drove up and over and then down into the camp site unfortunatly as the rain progressed and the silly peopel played in the mud (not just with their cars) the entrance and exit got mudier and mudier, So a nice tractor was brought in to help the stranded ones get in and out

Friday night before a lot more rain and cars

Morning after.. cars were strugling badly to get up the hill to get out, except the MK1's that had no problems unless you were stupid enough to drive striaght through the middle then it was your own fault, Even 4x4 Landrover (kiddie school run vehicles) got stuck

Worse still once you got over the hill the other side was worse and people were sliding down rather than driving suprised there wasnt an accident at the bottom next to the road, close call on a few occasioins I here.

The show was good, better if it hadnt been set up in a swamp but good non the less, couple of clubers did a few sprints, NO not me my car would probably break down on the line if I tried that just to make me look bad,

See if you guys can make a nice caption for the mupets trying to put up the tent myself included,

Also ask Paul sorry forgot your online name who managed to run over the official GTi 2007, Mk1 Owners Club sign taking his number plate of in the prosess sorry Paul had to be said  :D

So after being wet for most part of 2 days I gave up and decided to pack up after an amazing sunny section since the tent would be dry and my golf might get back up the hill to the camp site, Turned out the farmer wouldnt let us drive back onto the campsite so I had to walk and lug all the gear back yey.

To be honest it was still good and nice to have met some of you people  :)
Id do it al over again

Went on Sat. Neither I or my car had been for over 10 years - a lot has changed in that time!

The weather turned out fine - bit wet to start with. Enjoyed the sprint - though was a little dissapointed at the number of Mk1s - especially the really mint ones that I know are out there - maybe the weather put them off!!

The stands were OK - though I do remember the good old days of BRMotorsport and TSR (I know they were there this time - but not the same somehow). Progress I guess!

What it did do though was make me even more determined to finsih off my "resto" And next year I'll get a pass so I can park and sit with the "Mk1 Golf Owners Club"!!

The "Club GTI" stand was a bit sad I thought!

Until the next event!

Cheers

Thanks guys…..yeah I couldn't believe the massive hills and valleys in that piece of grass! And the hidden signs everywhere? I mean, imagine parking clearly in front of the sign and then an hour later, forgetting it was there and then running over it? Who'd do that eh? These days, if I hear funny noises coming from the car, especially over rough ground, I just assume its okay if it still keeps moving, etc.

It was a great show for me, I exceeded all my personal expactations by achieving 0-60mph in 6.03 seconds; and the 1/4 mile in 14.845 secs! That was my main highlight, you'll be pleased to know I beat everyone I ran against. 1st run was solo, 2nd was 188bhp Mk3 Golf diesel; 3rd was a Mk3 VR6 and 4th was a very attractive girl in a blue Mk3 - I think it was a normal GTI cos it was a tiny dot in my rear view mirror! Everything worked properly and I didn't break anything and it arrived safely home too.

Once again it was great to catch up with people face-to-face, nice to put a few more names to faces etc. It was a great turnout, 11 cars (I think) on Saturday - despite the weather - and 12 on Sunday. I was really impressed with the quality of all the cars on the stand, you did us proud!

I didn't personally buy much (this time round) but there was ample opportunity to spend ?3500 or so on an engine, if you wanted to. I guess if you have the money, it was a good show to compare things side-by-side. Also a lot of 'bling' styling stuff as usual.

Also it looks like Mk1s will have the fastest car time, I saw that green monster with 2 quattro engines (I think?) so a 0.60 of 2.43 seconds or so! Luckily the weather stayed good on Sunday and it was really busy so a great show in all.
