My vote appears to have made the decision even harder, making it 7 votes for each place.

Im not actually that bothered about where we go, but like the thought of starting something different, instead of tagging on to RTTS

We should make an initiative, and start up a mk1 watercooled vw festival in the same vain as RTTS.  Our club is fab, but i think there should be an annual meet for mk1 golfs, polos, derbys and sciroccos.  All mk1 clubs pooling together.

I'd love to see concourse events with Scirocco Storms up against Golf GTis etc. Geographically, a venue other than Newquay, or even Cornwall.  As others have said, Devon.

In terms of this club, we need to think ahead.  I feel strongly that we have a quarterly magazine, simular to Club GTI.

Does anyone agree?  :dontknow:

Quarterly mag!

I agree! A quarterly mag would be great! With this being an online club of sorts, the magazine can be downloaded or sent via email to paying members, then the production cosets are kept to a minimum! We touched on this issue briefly at the AGM earlier in 2005! We could have featured cars, entries from the various regional meets, even special "How to" maintenance articles ie stripping down brakes or wheel bearings, even maybe more in depth resto stuff! Advertising from specialist suppliers of mk1 parts and insurance deals maybe? I fancied a complete restoration project, we could have a vote each month to decide what to do next, then at the end of the year maybe raffle it off or even sell it! But theat would need funding and someone to do the work! It would make a very useful project though because you could show how to do all aspects of a resto and things to look out for when buying etc etc etc Waffle waffle bla bla sunken treasure ….Sorry to go on….I don't get out much!  :(

Happy new year to you all too!!!  :D

For a venue I think Devon would be best, its closer for the majority than Cornwall and slightly less crowded and definately more chilled out than Newquay.

Don't know if anyones heard of this before?…
http://www.goldcoastoceanfest.co.uk/

Its the biggest event in North Devon in the summer and it would be ace if we as a club could get a pitch. It spans three beaches; Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe. Croyde is the centre of it all and I've seen other cars on display before from a car resto company. There was a Chesil Porsche and Karman Ghia in amongst them and they were mint!

What do you reckon?

Magazine/project car!

So……Could a project car be a possibility? How would we fund it? Maybe charge ?1 to download the magazine and encourage as many people as possible to buy it, problem is, we would need it to be different from the website and offer moreas a maintenance manual/bible! Maybe we could advertise the project for a few months to gauge interest, then maybe charge for the complete years magazine up front, then we would have a starter for budget! After that we would need to begg steal and borrow I suppose! Come on fellas….Ideas please!
