Im seeing a guy on thursday thats breaking a Mk3 so if its 4 stud i might alleviate him of his rear hubs. Cheers guys :)

if its a GTi then it will be rear discs, if so get the stub axels, and the calipers / carrier and tell him to keep the discs

then buy a pair of new discs from a mk2 16v, new pads from the same car, and new wheel bearings, press the bearings in (do not for the love of god hammer them in! press them in properly any machine style shop will only chnage a couple of quid or most garage should be able to do it) clean up the sub axels with a wire bush, clean up the calipers, get some handbrake cables and fit as per the guide, job done have a nice day

Interesting that you say do not hammer them in.

I have always hammered them in right back to my Beetle days and never had any problems. I always use a suitable drift and carefully work them in until they are fully seated - the key is always to take your time and drift them in slowly in my experience.

Cheers,
Ade

aahh now thats different, if you are using the correct sized drift and made sure the out side of the bearing is greased up along with the inside of the holder, and you take your time then its fine, but pressing them in is still a better and easier idea, (I use a pillar drill and and the corect sized socket I have to press them in)

the wheels bolt onto the disc, so throw the 5 stud disc in the bin and buy a 4 stud disc ;)
