When you park it up 6 days ago, haven't been in it since and are now sitting here looking for an excuse to go for a drive…

Who needs an excuse???

Not sure but this maybe one. You know... when you get into a modern car, just start to reverse it down your drive and jump cause some buzzer, bell and lights have gone off cause your not wearing your seatbelt. :dontknow:

Rust isn't c##p, it's lighter than carbon fibre

You know your driving a Mk1 Gti when your 12 year old nephew laughs and says "in the olden days did you have to wind the windows down on all old cars and use a key to get in?"

Or,
You know your driving Mk1 Gti because if needed you can still wipe the smile of the face of the young lad with the saxo with a car older than him.

Wife, kids, car……not necessarily in that order.

When you know the exact position of every pothole in your town.

In fact, they should add pot hole locations into sat nav systems…"In 100 yards, swerve right to avoid hole."

You know you've had a mk1 too long when…

you come in, throw your keys on the table and long suffering husband says "whats stopped working/started leaking now?" etc etc

the novelty of police stopping you when you wear a baseball cap has long since worn off

you look around your work car park and it makes you smile that youve got the best one out of the 200 cars in there

You know when you've been driving a mk1 cabby too long when you get a wet bum and it doesnt really bother you anymore.

Or random cutting out is an acceptable thing which you add time for in day to day life……

May have been done already but 22 pages is alot to read and I just finished work!!

Its been too long when you have to explain to your work mates that you would prefer to drive the cab to work in the sun rather than the shiny new mk2 3.2 tt work car.

CAB wins every day for me-even when it breaks down in the Blackwall Tunnel.-yes that was me causing the traffic jam the other week  8O  8O

…..then you wake up sweating - 'it's only a dream my dear…..'

…yes, I DO dream Mk1's…

Cracked up when i saw this one…At least you got your "15mins of fame" even if it was for the wrong reason….

But just to sum this all up……No matter what happens, how or when it does,we all have a love for the greatest car(i think officially),the daddy of them all whose many offsprings have fallen by the wayside,
