Wheels poking out arches.

uunless you meant the 70 bit?

And id be happy to say ive done 70 down there.

Its not even unsafe and itd be at a time all your kids would be in bed and you police are off smoking all the kids buds youve took off them.

:)

If its built up area and there's houses with kids

you cant ignore the speed limits and just presume everyones in bed..

How would you like it if someone crashed into your car outside, or ran over your family pet just because the presumed everyone was in bed

My mates died recently in a car accident, you will have seen in on news etc.

And i know the dangers but i do class myself as a safe driver.

The other day we were on a road with speed camaras goignt hrough the center of birmingham and part of its 30 then goes onto 40 and the car in front got flashed, which is silly as he was causing no danger to ANYONE but got a speed ticket for what?

Driving home, on a straight road which is long enough to get to silly speed on, the people who decided the speed limits on that road couldnt work out what the speed limit should be properly tbh.

I felt guilty for the geezer tbh, 3 points that easily for nothing.

All of you asume wrong.

Has a speed camera never pissed you off?

Anybody noticed how this has wandered off topic a bit? :?  :?

Speeding is like masturbation, everyone does it ,but it's not something you should record and put on the internet!!

i got 3 points for a bald tyre so i did nothing wrong there other than not have enough money to buy a new tyre, probably for the fact my insurace was so high.

If it was nothing wrong, then why did you get thre points!!!

if you had no money to replace a tyre, then how did you have money for fuel to be driving in the first place..

sounds like you got your priorities wrong to me.. Bald tyre, should have walked or got bus till you could afford to buy a tyre and be safe

more than once but it's there for a reason so deal with it.

and just so you know most cameras are set to 40 mph unless there are multiple speeds (say 30/40) in which case it may be set higher so you must have been moving.

Its possible to be flashed by a camera even if you're within the limit - they sometimes do this. If you're not speeding, no worries.

At the risk of repeating myself, avoiding being caught for speeding is very easy - you just match up the sign at the side of the road with the number the speedo needle is pointing at.

Well theyd have had sun glasses on in the dark to not have seen my cow.

Aha, nah i ent got a cow but if you dont observe enough ntot o hit a cat then you obviously shouldnt be doing anything over 40 mph anyway.

Im saying it is safe to do 70 down there easily, i could do more is what im saying if i wanted to nutter it down it.

Im saying ive been down it faster basically tbh.

But it makes it totally sound to do slower speeds down it and keep the speed limits at a speed that get you were you need to go in the time you want.

Im saying speed cameras are usually silly, not speed limits, i can see why there there for people who cant see cats in the road on a straight road.

Unlikely your going to see a person walk out infront of you on a straight road if they see any car going down it, plus their fault really if they see a car flyign down the road and decide its their time to see if hel stop in time.

If you observe enough your going to see all dangers etc, all you need to do is give yourself an appropriate speed to go at for the speed of your reactions.

you can not judge the speed of a car coming towards you. unless your eyes a 20 foot apart that is.

the human brain can not do it it is that simply.

yes but why do i have to slow down just for some yellow box.

When i can see the yellow box and the road infront of it and dont need to slow down at all anyway so why would i need to bother.

Saves me affort, petty if i dont, makes me late, if i do.

you dont need to judge the exact speed cus whats that going to acheve you?

But you can work out their going to hit you if your going to step out infront of the car thats about 5 meeters away from you going at 60 mph.

Only a retard would do that.

And if it happens to be a retard, then you can go round him or break so you dont hit him, as you should observe the pavment aswell as you dont know what members of the public may do…

You've got it more/less right. The only real thing I can add is that even if you perceive the speed limits as unrealistic or unfair, its an absolute offence so you'd need to pay the fine and take the points if you are caught. As said before, they only really position the cameras where there's been accidents or problems before, yes sometimes this is caused by driver error but that's the way it goes.

A good example was Sunday's Wales meet. We were all in convoy going around 40-50 in a 60 zone, and everyone in front randomly slowed down. Why? Because there was a dog wandering around in the road. So, 40-50 was the appropriate speed, even though it was a 60 limit. In other areas there was good visibility and the cars were not so close together, so it was possible to exceed 60 safely.

But you can never predict the unexpected, so you really do need to be prepared to lose most/all of your speed at any point. That's where the problems of high speed come about, because of the distance to stop.

Darwinism in effect - the ones who step out get injured, the ones who hit them lose their licence/liberty.

Matching up the speed which the sign sais with the numpers on my dials is easy yes.

But im saying why do i have to do this from 40 - 30 on EXACTALLY the same road with no houses round etc, on a straight road!

As theres NO reason to do so.

So extra effort i have to make for no reason, jsuut so the goverment arnt just robbing your miney with tax, petty but just for general mistakes like missing a 30 sign due to the fact you didnt think you needed to check if the next speed camera was the same as its exactally the same road with no differences so what makes it need a 30 sign, 30 camera, what makes me HAVE to line up the 30 with the 30 on my dials.

mate all these people who have posted on here are trying to impart some of the knowledge to you and help you.

a cat/dog or other animal will not look for you even if you are 5m away doing 60mph. neither will a child as it will not identify you as a threat.
difference between 60 and 30 is obvious you will cover twice the distance in the same time. so a person looks up your 500m away so plenty of time to cross if your doing 30 it's not if your doing 60.
