no you don't need to primer it. the rustoleum sticks to bare metal.

looks great, i think you should keep the rack but, it does need modding (looks like a window cleaners car at the minute) - lowering it, matt black frame and varnished light colour wooden slats sounds like a good plan to me!

well done - certainly gonna try this paint on my next project!
