The most recent discussion across forums. stretched tyres!

Looks stupid, ridiculous thing to do. Stupid dangerous mods like this that will get modifying banned.

as i said use it on wheels you generally dont use, bbs for most people.

But tbh, it looks good, its the lowest it can be on those wheels those tyres.

Fair play.

This is down to opinion tbh, if you ike it you like it if you dont you dont….

Marmite effect.

I bet you all want a bit of streach really, i bet if it wasnt dangerous youd do it.

Doesn't do it for me. I used to have a mini with wide rims on and had Bridgestone potenza tyres. The sidewalls curved in like that, but looked good, and had an extra lip on the sidewall to prevent curbing.

They were good tyres and I'll be getting some for the Polo once the Yoko's are dead. Basically they looked stretched without being stretched.

I don't understand it on a Bora, it suits small cars more IMO

Edit - see here (not my old mini btw!) Poply - Create free online invitations - send with text & email

I reckon those rims are 8 inch, so it is stretched a bit more than mine were, I had 7 x 13's. Tyres are 175/50/13

I had 7x13 on my old mini and fitted 175 50 13 tyres as well - they were just the tyres everyone used - there was never any mention of stretch. Although I read that this size wheel/tyre combo is illegal in germany now.

From the mini experience I've fitted 175 50 15 tyres on my 7x15 rims on my golf. This was mainly so that I could be sure that the tyres cleared my coilovers. While I don't consider this combination to be a big stretch I won't be fitting it again as the handling and ride quality is definately compromised, I'd rather get some narrow hubcentric spacers and fit 195s.

a moderate stretched tyre looks good imo i have 195 45 15 on my 8j RM`s and it looks fine and dont affect the handling (well what handling there is on a standard sportline)

That bora does look a little silly to be fair, its unpractical and dangerous as said by many, its nothing more than a scene points ornament, and its not "different" or unique as loads of tools have done the same way before him

it would look far better with high offset rims/spacers and wide tyres or even widened steels

coz as it is now it looks Ghey!

most people run stretch tyres to be able to lower the car more and tuck the wheels in, i must admit that i`m looking in to different tyres for my 7.5 rs`s at the moment but can`t bring myself to put 165/50`s on ..! i think i`ll go for 185/45 or 175/50`s TBH

Its ironic really, the guy in the OP has spend loads of dosh on the car but half done the job. Its possible to run wheels that wide, on the car. He'd need to narrow the axles and 'tub' the inner arches, though. Drag car owners do it, others have done it on water cooled VWs (grey Dutch Mk1 Golf with VR6 on throttle bodies…) but he didn't.

Having wheels sticking out beyond the bodywork is a schoolboy error!

I have stretched tyres on mine but that is pushing it too far.
mine have been on for 2 years and never have they given me trouble still handles well and even with the G60 still gives plenty of traction.

No there never was a mention of 'stretch' and yes that 175/50/13 tyre size was available from all mini specialists for 13x7's or 13x8's but it's the design of that brand/model of tyre tyre I'm talking about.

The Bridgestone Potenza's design gives the appearance of being stretched as the tyre wall curves back, other 175/50/13's aren't like that as the tyre wall sits square. So if anyone was on 13x7's or 13x8's and after the 'stretched-look' without being dangerous I'd go for them.

Yeah seem to remember my mate had Yoko A539s on his, I had bridgestones. His didn't sidewalls were dead straight, mine were a little curved.

Its a very good idea if you want acess to the underside of the car

in the ditch

on its doorhandles….

It's not about handling simply looks and arty photo's - i mean it used to be just the car now its the car and the owner lookin gansterish… whats that about… :dontknow:

Keep your rims no wider than the arches can accomodate and keep your tyre profile no lower than your roads allow…. unless of course its simply for the show and not the go..

and another thing why put wider wheels on the back of a front wheel drive car? :dontknow:

just my opinion no offence or otherwise intended….

I didnt want to really say this as I will make enemys. But you really are an ass. The topics about stretched tyres and you, like in all other threads where you post, talk about engine. And then post a vid of you racing it

Wow its a 20v turbo engine, fastest engine ever that

My saxo vtr did a 15sec 1/4 so yours int that fast  Plus its a cabby, so most people just think, wot a bellend

I know wot you do, you go into a town and park somewhere where theres lots of people. Open the bonnet and pretend theres summat up. Hoping that someone will see it an be like 'wow wot engines that'. Then you can tell em all about it and big it up. Your well cool 8)

Rant over
