mk1 citi
i to have a citi golf 1.3 it's the chico. with regardsto the cup holders and no ash tray the citi golf chico is the bottom of the range, no money was wasted on it even the paint was the cheapest they could find.
i had a citi golf cti and when that was launched it was the top of the citi range, that was the best car i ever owned.
it had a 1.8i engine and lt went like a rocket.
got some pics of the cti, just click on the link.

Timing belt must have sliped and lost cylinder 2~ zero compression
Will be swapping out the engine at some point. Let me know if you want a 1.3 Citi Golf engine with some bent valves :dontknow:
Lucky I had the girlfriend with me as she has RAC cover. Towed to Slough and nicked my brothers Corrado Storm to make up for lost time in getting up to Inters. Still arrived at 3pm though

I'm 17 and bought mine a few weeks ago… insurance with Endsleigh is a killer but i guess i've just got to suck it and get on with it!
Loving the car - it's a 96 N reg one in white, good condition, only 60k miles.
I've got a LOAD of questions about the car… would just love to know as much as I can about it. First off, body-wise, is it just a mk1? I've heard it's a mk1 rear with mk2 front?! I'd be quite interested in changing the all white bumpers for black ones - what ones would i need?
This friday i'm going to be shown how to service it (i'm not very mechanically minded ) by a mechanic friend of mine who owns a stunning 205 gti - i've got a box of bits and new oil so it will be nice to know how it all is under the bonnet and know that i've replaced and cleaned everything up all at once!
One major problem i've got that needs fixing asap is that i have a puddle sitting in the boot carpet above the spare wheel… it appears that water's coming through the left rear light cluster. Pretty certain this is the issue as the left rear brake light only works randomly (i.e. hit it and it works). What new light could i get to replace it? Any mk1 light fit it or will it be a struggle?
As i say, loving the car - you guys have some stunning ones and really inspirational. My plans for it are to (when it dries up weather-wise) give it a proper wash, then t-cut it to get rid of all the dirt and rubbish - restore it to original paintwork sort of (this a good idea?) after this, polish and wax to try and seal in the clean car if you get me?
And then i'm buying some Ronal Turbo 15"'s for it and hope to lower it very slightly.
Help much much much appreciated guys! cheers

A lot of the differences have been listed on the first page of this thread. Basically its still a MK1 but with a few "improvements". Some are structural like the rear quarter that has a recess and supports behind the tront turrets. Others are cosmetic, like the front wings, grill and centre console.
Would you mind give us some more info on the insurance you have, its just that another member on here bought a Citi and was strugglin to get it insured.
Good luck with the servicing. Oh and get some pics up.

One thing we noticed was a huge amount of resistance from the gearbox on the wheels - is this normal or have i got a problem?
Insurance-wise, i'm with endsleigh, 3rd party f+t, full uk breakdown cover, homestart, windscreen cover blahh blahh… £1750 :O mental but theyre one of the the few who will insure me and the cheapest.
Pics this weekend when i've t-cutted and polished and waxed.
