Official Mk1 Golf OC 1/4 mile sprint league table!

Following from a suggestion on http://www.vwgolfmk1.o…iewtopic&t=43032&start=20, here is the official Mk1 Golf Owners club 1/4 mile sprint league table. The rules are simple:

1. It must be a Mk1 Golf.
2. The time must be done at a recognised facility with accurate timing gear, eg sprint runs at a show such as GTI Festival, GTI Inters or another RWYB day.
3. We'll take it on good faith about times but if anyone questions it, then we'd need to see a scan of the timing slip, etc.

I appreciate many members aren't into sprinting (or breaking their cars!) but hopefully it will prove useful, since it always provides some entertainment value and can serve as an inspiration to possible future mods, also it will be a useful reference for what 'package' of mods work/don't work in improving performance.

Best time: 14.15 secs at Santa Pod

I'll add 14.08 in, I'm sure he did a 14.01 though??? Just needs confirming.

15.799 secs - GTI International 2008 (wet Saturday !!)

Must try harder.. It was only my second go at sprinting :-)

Here's the thread on it, basically its standard apart from 2.0l 16V engine, lowered, Ashley exhaust & manifold, lightened flywheel, 1600 gearbox, decent tyres up front, and some items removed to save weight. (The best time of 14.15 was set with the original flywheel and 1800 trans though).

15.6 at the pod

2 litre 16v engine, kr exhaust cam in the inlet, twin 40 dellortos, 4 into 1 manifold and straight thru exhaust, no back seats,
no traction

i didn't do it but my mk1 has a 13.4 at big bang 04, does this count ?

Well managed a 14.1 at about 98mph was at the pod in my mk 1 G60 with the following mods:

Stage 4 charger, 68mm pulley, stage 1 head, standard G60 corrado cam, cone filter, jabba chip, standard injectors (Green), standard clutch  8O stripped interior

Just trying to get into the 13's then i will be happy !!!

Do you have the exact number to 3 decimal places, otherwise I'd need to put it down as 14.1x and after 14.15.
