Golf Gti Mk1 - Family car?

Once mine is back on road will be taking my little girl out in the GTI, once missus passes her test, in theory the GTI will be my daily(YES!), I can honestly say i have no qualms in using the Golf as a daily and ferrying my family around in it, if anything i'll feel better using it as i've maintained it myself, can't say the same for my Audi, a good car (darn good in fact) but i have no faith in myself to fix it if it ever goes wrong.
