She even helps me refurbing bits on it, she's taken on a set of 14'' ats cups as her own to refurb. she's not had a go in it yet, but then i've hardly driven it cos of the knackered head gasket.
She's equally, if not more excited than me bout showing it at vwnw!

My girlfriend wasn't really into cars when I met her, but after taking her to a few shows and letting her have a go in my cars she decided she wanted something classic, spotted a MK1 polo on ebay and fell in love with it.

Is this the Polo I always spot around Clifton Moor, Leeds, and everywhere inbetween Gav? GDD ***V reg or something?
There has eben quite a few posts on Club Polo, ED38 and a York car website about spottings, and no one knows whos it is!

Yeah, thats hers Dom. It's off the road at the moment though…I'm doing the rear arches and sorting out the scabby bits. I think she saw your Mk1 the other day, she described it to me when she got home and it sounded like yours anyway. You might see her in my golf now and again, I'm letting her run it a few days a week as she's having to use her old Pug 106 and isnt too happy about it!

I wish I had a garage mate…although I'd ever leave the garage, never mind the car!

i like mk1s thats why i have four of them 8)
I'm a female too, been driving mk1 diesels as daily drivers for years, (learnt to drive in one, owned 2 over the past 7 years). Enjoy learning how to service them etc…I'm no mechanic but eager to learn more and I now do my own oil changes and various filter changes (probably easier than changing the hoover bag!), replaced body trims, lights and bumpers, fitted different seats etc. Wouldn't be seen DEAD in a pink Ford Ka or chav-mobile…I like older cars 50's-80's (mostly V.A.G of course) and plan to work my way up to a mk1 GTI or mk2 if I can't find a good mk1…when I finally get a garage to keep it in and smother it with attention. Not particularly a petrol head, girl-racer wannabe though. I get in newer cars and think they're very 'wafty' and characterless to drive. I prefer the classic and original look of a mk1…newer cars all look similar, and from the experiences of my friends and family, they aren't even as reliable! Except maybe in a crash 8O
Anyway, at the next VW show just look at the amount of females there who are actually looking around with lots of interest…not just being dragged round by their partners.

Sweet, I did sell my clipper to a female she only bough it though because she described it as perfect and low matinence, She did seem very excited when I taught her how to check her oil. lol Well I am glad ladies like mk1 golf I do think females should take care over their cars etc seems pointless doing make up, hair, nail spending hours on an outfit walking out side and geting into a piece of cr P eurobucket with scraps all down the passenger side! I think you have to have a car that suits your personality!
i also have a polo harlequin  whats that say about personality :dontknow:
