The star ones, usually put wheels like that on beetles.

Suppose it just goes to show how personal wheels are

Yea but tbh.

I want Fat steelies so i dont want evryone to get them…..

Its a bit annoying really.

If you want to be different go for weller steelies.

or some old school wheels.

Its a bit rubbish that bbs are on like every show car mk1 golf.

Its silly.(Even though id still mlike some)

I totally agree with the sheep bit on page one.

If you dont need big breaks go 13" 14"

I like the Audi wheels on the baby blue one,  but its the cost of the hub adaptors I can't bring myself to pay for,  Or convince my wife to let me pay for  I like the first white one with the small wheels then a car with 16" like the dark blue with D90's? I think its the price that will force most peoples choice unless its a show car.  But the Compomotive Intergrale wheels are nice.

A few more to view.

13" original wheel in black and chrome i almost didn't recognise it when i found it!

Is that some original steel centres welded on to some wider steel wheels?

Also, I hope this one is photoshopped!

and no, their branded steelies.

Just weld a bit of metal in the center basically to make it wider and deeper:)

I think its fitted with adjustable rear cambers as i have got a few more images of the car, so i don't think its shop'd, but probably wrong

its got to be on air to be sat that low. so most likely part of the air ride system to allow the wheels to sit inside the arch when that low.

Banding isnt quite as simple as that! to get those original Gti steels that wide involves using quite a few cuts and adding loads of metal!

I like loads of wheel types, the trouble with a lot of them is that they are "of the moment" so they are only popular for a short time, your tsw/mim soft edge 5 spokes, your 3 spokes etc etc no one ever uses those now but back in the 90`s they were rife at Inters!

finding a set of rims no-one has used on a mk1 thus far is a tough one

The Germans/Belgians/Dutch are way ahead of the game on the rim front, they are more daring and go that extra mile……that said go to any euro show and most cars will be wearing something made by BBS or ATS or Ronal……..so despite the observations of a fair few the reason why BBS are so popular as they are probably the "vw" wheel to have even now

as i said i dont think its a sheep thing, imo they are just an awesome looking wheel, well made, trusted brand, and versatile as you can make em as wide as you like in a few hours!

I love those white OZ racing rims on the red mk1 8)  the Fuch windmill porsche ones are ace too

Wheels are a very personal choice, but those that are proven and look cool will always be chosen by others as its simple "influence" and people want to be part of that, my car came from the factory with 15" BBS RA`s so i stuck with the size just went for the 15" RMs to be "different" black centres, black caps and made them wider

I suppose they do, but for some reason because they are the teledial Porsche wheels i think they look good.  I never realised untill now how many pics i have with BBS wheels on,  you got to love um though :D

I like the brown one with not tyres.

And toto i know that but basically all they do is weld and their wider.

:)

more has been done to those early steels than just a band in the middle though as the outer lip has been added or the centre has been welded into a wider rim, original steels are only 6 1/2 j wide
