its not all about going fast down the strip…
TBH I'm not bothered about other people running stretched tyres any more. The legality has been clarified, in other threads, and its a boring argument. I'm a bit annoyed when I have a modified car and declare all my mods, yet there's others with potentially more dangerous mods who don't bother telling their insurance.
But then that's their choice, I guess? Because NO insurer would knowingly cover something that's illegal, after all! So thats the only way to do it?

But if this is pushing the limit of driveability 175/50R15 will offer a little less stretch, more ride comfort while maintaining the correct gearing from original 185/60R13, and perhaps some legality?

On these rims (6.5 i think), 165's don't look too stretched/bad, but then this car is parked and not driven daily i assume.

your right, not driven daily, but it driven to every show.. But driven slowly…

Interesting question this. I would suspect most people with a decent stretch don't run their car as a daily anyway. I certainly couldn't live with it on a daily basis. I think It's a scene and show thing really although we'll see.
T :dontknow:
my mk1 20v has stretched tyres on it and i run it daily never had any problems on any of my cars over the last 6 years?
why could you live with it on a daily basis? there are no differences
Do you mean why couldn't you live with it on a daily basis?
I think Tian is refering to the harder than standard ride, possibly making it unpleasant. (i think thats what he means)
sorry for my spelling mistake its been a long day
god these forums are so touchy
We're not that touchy mate. Emm's right though. With lack of flex in the tyre it's always going to be a firmer ride, that's obvious. Anyway I like my comfort mate, I'm old so deserve it.

Just for comparison and the fact i like lots of pics. Personally i think the 185/45R15 might be a good alternative to the 165/50 as it won't bulge off the edge of the rim like a 195 tyre but will give a low profile without the stretched side wall. if anyone has this size i would love to see a pic and know what they are like
mytyres.co.uk sell 185/45R15 for ?37
Tolerance Matches to within 1% of original (max 3%)

Regarding stretch, has anyone notice an M3? E46 style. The rear tyres have a fair bit of stretch from the factory, i also noticed an E46 330i and the rear tyres were the same, very wierd. Perhaps a little stretch is within manufacturing tollerances?
