** UPDATE to the update** They're paying out!

It will cost between ?550 to ?800 depending on it being jigged or not. that is a fact! if you need the proof pm' me and i'll put you in touch with somebody in a reputable garage will do it!

Hope this helps!

Just had a look at the engine bay picture if the area you have circled is bent then it will need to go on a floor jig as it will have bowed the inner wing a bit which will in turn knock the outer…out of shape.
Check drivers door to if it is catching?

I can quite beleive thoses costs, tbh - thats what I'm worried about! Along with the costs of the parts (new wing, clipper bumper and arch etc) it adds up to a pretty penny.

The drivers door opens properly, but the bonnet doesn't line up, despite the bent hinge.

Think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and strip it for parts to see if I can get enough money together to replace it with one in decent condition.

  Watch this space for some quality parts

The insurance has made me and 'initial offer' of ?2750! which is more than I paid for the car.

After much pain and hand wringing - it seems I might actually come out on top!

Think I'm going to take a break from the MK1 scene for a while, going to go british for a while, but I'll hang around and keep an eye on whats going  on.

Thanks for your help over the last year or so, guys.

"going British" surely thats gotta mean a Errrrrrr a Rover??? 8O   :naughty:  :hand:  :tlc:  :?  DONT DO IT they are cheap nasty and awfull to look at, and old people who smell of wee and cabbage own them

and remember……

ITS OVER ROVER

Sadly and much to my discust as a Nationalist the British CANNOT build a decent mass production car any more (did they ever? :? ) anything worth having is German, think hard before you step into a substandard vehicle with no quality and even less market value the longer you keep it

Err, not quite a Rover - I came across a mint '81 Triumph TR7 in yellow whilst persusing Autotrader, went to see it as it was fairly local, fell in love with it, did some research on how terrible they are and I should be picking it up this weekend!

Bit of a departure from the Golf, but my last four cars have been VAG so I fancied a change. I'll stick a pic up when I get it.

I know it's a bit of a strange choice! A TR6 would be awesome, but I couldn't afford one, and wouldn't want a softtop of that vintage without a garage/as a daily driver, anyhow.

yeah i can see how a TR7 would be a bit of a cool retro car, dont think they are all that personally and are a bit of a rarity nowdays, but in its day it was pretty neat, if it was me personally i would have tried to get a mk1 escort mexico or RS200 I KNOW ITS A FORD and as a rule i hate them!! but the mk1 escort is defo a cool retro car, they go ok too, get some pics up of the flying cheese wedge when you get it

The worlds my lobster as far as cars go, but I'm quite fussy, I don't want a 'new' car, and I'm not bothered about it being a speed machine - I just like something a bit unusual. Like i say, I went to view this one with no expectations and just fell in love with it (the fact that it has 44000 documented miles and has been ziebarted throughout & garaged from new helped!)

If I pick it up this weekend (fingers crossed) I'll get some pictures up on Monday for you all to tear apart

Okey Dokey

Early ('84) Porsche 944, 2.5l flat 4, 8 Valve

Metallic Maroony in colour

Brown leather interior

popup/lift out sunroof (almost targa type)

Aircon

All electrics functioning

6 Owners and 121,000 miles

Recent service, tyres and SS exhaust

Pulls like a train, faster than anything I've driven - luckily it came with a free GPS radar detector!

Body work/condition is good generally, but there are enough little bits to keep me going.

Over all, well chuffed!

I'lll put a couple more pics up when I get some

Oh, and the insurance ain't bad either!
