Sills don't bend from bad jacking - they bend if they're corroded.
I don't fully agree.
One of my sills is crushed where a previous owner put at trolley jack under it and lifted it on the bit which curves up under the door.
The paint cracked and water got under it and it started flaking and there's surface rust on it which I had to treat. I patched it further down and there was no sign of rot on the inner sill.
It may also be rotten.
My brother's van didn't start last night because he'd parked it out front for a couple of weeks. Charged the battery and this morning it went first turn of the key. If it's been started every so often and not been taken for a proper drive may have not had a chance to charge the battery.
It may also be knackered.
Unfortunately the faults you listed may be an easy 2 minute fix or you may spend hours trying to fix it. I personally think that's the gamble you take buying an older car, you win some and you lose some.
You could however use these faults as bargaining points and try to beat him down on price.
Yradave says relax.

Is it the actual sills bent or just the bottom seam? Happy to come and have a look with you if it's not miles n miles away.
very kind offer EW- its felixstowe- i don't know which end of essex you are? I don't think this is the one, but i might try and bribe you with beer when i'm going to see another
It was in at least three corners, the two rear ones looked like just the seam, maybe a little bit misshapen (spell?), but one at the front was badly crushed- at least 1 inch higher than the rest of the sill– Hope that makes sense
Thank you everybody.

did you not think to take any pics of the car and the problem areas might have been easier to advise you
ops: No, would have benn a good idea!
It wasn't the one for me… forgot to mention a couple of things wrong with it aswell! Steering wheel wasn't straight as you drive in a straigh line and wouldn't go into 1st gear unless you went straight from 2nd!
thanks, charlie.

i've said it before, but a mk1 tends to pick you, not the otherway round. you'll find one, that you just feek you have to have, regardless of any faults it may have. they tend to let you know they like you.
 Can't wait
