Mk1 Golf GTI 1.8 1992 part number for accumulator

Hello
i need a new accumulator for my 1992 Mk1 Golf Rivage Cabriolet. Engine number DX14.   I have found various different ones on ebay and various different threads on here with part numbers but I am still not sure which one I need.  Can anyone help?  A pointer in the direction of a cheaper one than Heritage would be great as well

thank you :):)

Just to check if you are sure the accumulator is faulty, when you remove the little screw at the back of it does petrol leak out?

Is the car difficult to start when it’s been driven and left for around 10 mins but starts fine when cold?

Hello,thanks for the reply.
Have not done the screw thing yet, the car is going up on the ramp at the weekend and I wanted the accumulator ready just in case it does leak fuel. My golf is my daily and has been off the road for a fortnight now so I need it back! Just had a new fuel pump fitted ( original one still on for 186000 miles!) and I am wondering if the accumulator is finding the new pump too much - that is original to the car as well.  The old pump had been dying for a while.
Fuel is not getting up to the fuel filter so it's not starting at all. Fuel pumps are both working, there could be a blockage somewhere else but I wanted the accumulator on standby just in case.
Blockage wise the tank was cleaned out after the filler neck was replaced some time ago with a stainless steel one and it is still looking squeaky clean.

Has the fuel filter been replaced?
There was someone on here who could get there car to start as the filter was blocked.

The job of the accumulator is to hold fuel pressure when you switch the car off and need to start it again when the engine is warm so it should not be doing anything when you 1st start the car.

I'd be looking at the WUR, AAV and engine timing.

Have you checked the lift pump in the fuel tank?

My cars on 317,000 miles and I've owned it for 27 years, I've just got a problem with my accumulator and it's the original one, I've been through 1 main fuel pump and about 5 lift pumps in all that time.

Faulty lift pump causes a noisy main pump and lack of fuel.

Fuel pressure test is the best way to find a fault and could save you money and time replacing parts that aren’t faulty..

thanks for all the replies

Fuel is not getting up to the fuel filter.  Fuel pump and tank lifter pump appear to be working.
Car drove fine for 30 miles, parked it up and would not start when we came back a few hours later.  Got it started with WD40 and got home but it will not start again.
We will go through every part of the system methodically over the weekend.
I asked about the accumulator part number to get ahead of the game - I can lay my hands on the other parts of the fuel system but there seem to be a few part numbers (and prices) for the accumulator that will fit my Golf.  Just in case it turns out to be faulty I would like to know which one to order

Thanks again :)

Thanks all

Accumulator was shot but the issue was the new fuel pump - tested off the car , it  started but then stopped running.

Have ordered a new accumulator and a Bosch fuel pump from Classic vw
