Settling In
Rebiulding front axle of1987 cabriolet gti which has previously been messed about. Gearbox has 100 mm inner cvs.How do you tell if correct wheel bearing housing? One has higher outer rim by approx 2mm

90mm spindles will not take 100mm axles.
All the bearings are the same for both.
the biggest gimmie is that of your new Spring clips are round eared don't use them the Spring clips have flat ears.

These are aftermarket items for later cabrio with 100mm shafts. Assuming good copies of original hubs i think the difference is the outer recess at the top…which lesser hubs do not have.

Rim height looks similar to mine,does this allow outer 90 mm c.v.
joint with total length of138 mm and shorter drive shafts to be fitted.Car is 1990 sportline.what should be inner seal dimension of cv ,most available seem to be 53 mm

There is a small lump on the 100 mm bearing carrier on inside of the part that bolts to the shock

Thanks,checked housing & has lump.Outer cv has total length of 138mm outer seal diam of 53 mm & main diameter
